A/N; Hello my darlings. I just wanted to say thank you so much for 21k. I've finally broken some of my writers block, but aside from that I've been so extremely busy working that I haven't had time to come and edit my chapter. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Thank you for reading and commenting. Your comments remind me what's happening in early chapters and helps me when I'm writing future ones. I love seeing your thoughts on what's happening or if you feel the tension. All that to say, if you like something, comment. If you don't like something, comment. I want to get better as a writer, especially for my next book. I can't do that without your help, so if you can remember, let me know what you're thinking. Your commentary will go a long way.

I'm done yapping, please enjoy this chapter and I'll see you in the next one.

P.s. Don't forget to follow me so you can stay updated via the announcement board if chapters are taking awhile. I try to keep y'all fairly updated pretty often!

Ashton's pov

It's been a few days since mom and I had gone out on that shopping trip. We'd spent the rest of day getting our nails done, sharing an expensive lunch and just enjoying our time spent with one another by window shopping at some of her favorite stores, mostly so I could figure out what to get for her birthday gifts. I hadn't realized how much time had been missed between my mother and I.

Before my job started, we spent so much time together because not only was she worried that I'd forget my roots while traveling all over the country, she also wanted to make sure I remembered where home was. So we went all around town creating memories together.

My favorite moment was when we took a run together around the city. We traveled to our old school and mom's old jobs. Just popping in to say hello to people from the past. Mom was so happy to show me off to everyone that supported us as we grew up and I was proud to tell them how far I'd came despite how hard my journey was to get this far.

I'd never felt more supported then seeing the community we strove to make our own, embrace us and all the baggage we brought with us. From the hair salon, to the dentist's office mom worked in to save on dental appointments, I felt a sense of security in my upcoming travels, but I'd always remember where to return home too.

Unfortunately, my relationship fell apart in-between all of that, and mom's fears came true.

Currently I'm sat in the car with Daja as she drums her fingers across her steering wheel. This was the slowest she's ever driven which tells me that she's so nervous that she's on the verge of throwing up.

Realistically I should ask her if she wants me to drive, but she'd only decline, so she can drive in circles if she's really feeling far too on edge to show up early.

I glance at my phone, seeing texts from both Jo and Sutton. The latter asking if her girl has gotten coffee yet, with the hope of leaving work early to surprise her before she starts.
