Size Matters

Chapter 12- Glossed Up

Throughout this whole week there have been posters plastered all over walls about the carnival opening up at the same park that me and Justin went to for the concert.

All six of us are going: Rebecca, Chase, Luther, Jenny,......Justin,...and I.

Rebecca and Jenny says this is going to be my chance to finally confess but I still dont think I'm going to do it..

Ill probabaly just not tell him and just pretend like I did and tell Rebecca and Jenny that he turned me down harshly.

This Saturday the carnival will be open and all of school is expected to go. Even other schools are invited.

Todays Friday so the carnival is only a day away I just do not know what to expect. I havent really been talking to Justin as much as I used to. We used to argue and bother each other all the time but now whenever he talks to me I clamp up and say "I have to go to do.....something". Ugh I am a mess!!

Beep!!Beep!!

I feel the vibration in my pocket signaling somone just texted me.Oh!!Its Rebecca.

Sent: 1:30 pm

Afterschool meet me and Jenny at the salon cause were gonna get you all glossed up for the carnival so when Justin sees you he will be automatically in love and dont worry were paying.

My mouth falls open and I chuckle a little bit thinking in my head "You guys are gonna have to drag me there"

Soon I feel a second vibration in my pocket and I take out my phone again and read the message.

Sent: 1:31 pm

We will drag you there if we have too

I sighed "Of course "

- Afterschool -

I quickly run towards the front door shoving through the other kids until Im half way to the side walk when I feel two arms grab each one of my arms.

"Not so fast " Rebecca says smiling mischeivously

" Yeah were lucky youre so tall or we would have never found you" Jenny says giggling.

I groan and try to shove them off.

" Uggghhh I dont wanna get glossed up" I say stomping my foot like a four year old.

" You dont have a choice Eb. " Rebecca says poking my sides.

" Dont worry Ebony youre going to have a great time. I promise" Even Jenny's sweet calming voice doesnt sooth me.

I continue struggling as Rebecca leads us to her car

"Noooooooo!!" I yell out struggling harder. People start to stare at me.

" She hasnt had her nap yet. A little cranky" Jenny says to a few girls walking past.

" Stop making me look crazy!" I yell at them and they both just laugh.

- At the salon-

"Can I see it now?" I impatiently say as the salon lady finishes up a few tweeks on my hair.

After I finally settled down and agreed to go I sat down and the salon lady has been doing my hair for about 2 hours and it felt like an eternity. Rebecca just sat there looking at fashion mags and Jenny watched the news on the tv high up in the corner.

And when they finally looked at me they said I looked soo cute but I so doubt it.

The salon lady soon stopped tweaking my hair and stood up straight ready to turn me around so I could look in the mirror. I didnt know what i was gonna see but I was really nervous and I think she knew.

"Ready?" She asked me with a satisfied smile.

" Y-Yeah" I said nervously

She turned me around and I couldnt believe who I saw cause it wasnt me.

The person I saw was super cute with long pink curls running down her shoulders and pink bangs.

"Whoa!.....what did you do to me?"I say smiling wide as I run my fingers through my now beautiful hair.

Jenny and Rebecca come up behind me staring at me in the mirror.

"Didnt we tell you you looked great?" Jenny said throwing her arms around me hugging me.

"Yep and now Justin wont be able to take eyes off you......or maybe his hands.." She said wiggling her eyebrows.

"Shut uuuup...." I said blushing as pink as my hair.

"They are right.Whoever this guy is that you are trying to impress he is gonna be very lucky" The salon lady said squeezing my shoulders.

I blushed some more. Will Justin really like how I look? And will that make him really like me?
