Brynn POV
"Um... Ya sure?" I said, standing up and walking after him, "I'll see you later Lindz, Dani, Lace."
He led me into an empty room to the left and told me to sit. I obeyed, a curious look smeared across my face. Wiggling in the chair to get comfortable, I folded my hands together in my lap, fingers weaving together.
"Shoot," I told him, waiting for him to say what he needed to.
It wasn't so much words as he lurched forward pressing his warm lips to mine. Normally in this kind of situation, I probably would have pulled away and slapped the guy, but something kept me from doing so. I stood, wrapping my arms around Lucas's neck and pulling him closer.
Only then did I realize what had just happened. I broke the kiss and out of breath stuttered, "What the hell just happened?"
"I'm sorry! That part was supposed to come after the explaining," Lucas put extra emphasis on the word after.
Not knowing why I didn't run away, I sat back down and motioned for him to explain this situation.
"Okay, so... By the way you were reading that book in first period I'm guessing you read a lot. I'm also guessing you read fantasy type things?"
"Yes, what's your point?"
"You've read books with magic and werewolfs and other creatures then, correct?" he asked.
"Yes! I have read books like that!" I stated, slightly frustrated at why he wouldn't just say what he needed to say.
"And, you would know that..." I cut him off, "Lucas get to the point! Jeeze!"
"Brynn," he murmured taking my hands, "I am a werewolf."
I laughed suddenly, doubling over in my chair, "Werewolfs aren't real! This is so ridiculous! You've got to be kidding me!" His serious face was amusing and only caused me to laugh harder than I already was. "Am I on some prank show or something?"
"Brynn, I'm not kidding. I am a werewolf."
"You're seriously crazy!" I giggled, he had to be joking with me, this stuff he was saying was impossible, completely fake.
"I'm serious," Lucas tried again, cupping my face in his warm hands. His face was almost desperate, and that's when I knew he was telling the truth. I was completely shocked, flabbergasted. This is... insane, I thought.
"Prove it," my voice croaked out barely above a whisper.
His lips twitched upwards and he stood, clearly expecting me to get up as well. He led me back to the cafeteria and mouthed something to my newfound friends. They stood and trailed behind Lucas and I, heading towards an exit at the end of a hall.
Lucas turned, pushing the door open to let me outside. The now open space filled my eyes with popping bright greens and blues of different shades. It was beautiful, trees towered high above, thin tops disappearing into the cloudy sky. Short bushes of dark evergreen were budded with small berries, every color from red to purple.
"Follow me," he said, striding off into the undergrowth. My steps were short and quick compared to his lengthened ones.
We came to a place where a small hollow was carved out naturally into the forest, Lacey stepped in next, a few seconds after us, followed by Lindsey and Dani.
Dannielle walked over to Lucas, no more than three feet away, while Lindz and Lacey stayed by me. "We have a few things that you must know..." Lindsey told me, clear grayish eyes staring into mine.
I drew in a deep breath, shrugging my shoulders as I waited for someone to make sense of this whole situation.
Lucas spoke first but was cut off almost immediately as a boy jogged in from a different side of the clearing than we had entered, "Hey sorry I'm late." He had dirty blond hair and greenish-hazel eyes, although he was tall he was just slightly shorter than Lucas. He was well muscled and well, hot.
"Emmitt," he acknowledge before continuing what he had been saying, "Myself, Dannielle, and Emmitt, are all werewolfs."
"Prove it," I said for the second time today.
In front of me, my friends transformed, bone structure changing as glossy fur rippled across their skin. Faces elongated into muzzles, eyes turned different colors, and yips escaped their mouths instead of words. It was obvious who was who, from the colors of fur that matched similarly to the color of their hair.
Emmitt, the one I had just met had mostly white fur with soft blondish patches, grey paws and tail tip, with black painting the tips. His eyes had switched to red in his wolf form, but the way his snout sniffed curiously and the lazy happiness he gave off made it less demonic and just... red.
Dannielle, was near opposite from Emmitt. She was dark brown, almost black with lighter brown markings on her ears and belly. Her brown eyes were now a light shade of purple, clear and thoughtful.
Lastly, my eyes landed upon Lucas. His messy brown hair had been replaced with luscious fur the color of cocoa. Deep brown eyes were replaced with a glittering icy blue. Damn, he's beautiful human and not! I thought, a shudder running along my spine.
I know, I could hear the smirk in his voice, Erm... Thought-voice?
You can hear me?!
Yes, of course. He thought simply, it's a pack thing.
But I'm not a werewolf? I replied, tilting my head to the side questioningly.
No, but you are my mate, and therefore... Pack.
I'm... I'm your what?
Mate, Brynn, you're my mate.
I was struck with panicky thoughts. Werewolfs are real! Oh my god! Hyperventilation then sat in, my breath heaving in my chest. I thought my lungs might explode, wouldn't that be a mess.
My jaw dropped so fast I thought it would hit the grassy ground. The realization of what was going on hit me hard. My breath caught in my throat and my knees buckled. I was unconscious before I hit the ground.
----------------------------------------------------
My eyelids drifted open briefly but closed again as bright light blinded me. I had the sensation of moving though I knew I was not causing this myself. My left side was considerably warmer than my right and I snuggled closer to the source.
A rumble vibrated me and soft lips brushed my forehead. "Go back to sleep love," a deep voice whispered, shifting me up higher.
Without opening my eyes, I reached up and placed my hand on what I assumed was someone's chest. Someone male.
I was enveloped in darkness once more and welcomed the comforting peace that came with it.
