Brynn POV
I woke up as Lucas slid into the sheets beside me. "Where'd you go?" I murmured sleepily.
"I had some Alpha business to take care of, nothing important," he said, wrapping his thick arms around my waist. I placed my hands on his chest, tucking my head against his shoulder.
"Lucas?" I said still have asleep, "What time is it?"
"Just past two in the morning," he said, stroking circles into my upper arm.
I sat up quickly, suddenly awake. "I never came home! My mom is going to freak, she probably already is freaking!"
He hushed me, "I had Lindsey call her and say she was a friend from school. She told her you were spending the night at her house."
"Oh okay then," I fell back against him and closed my eyes again. Technically I AM at Lindsey's house... So it's not exactly a lie.
Sleep drifted me off once again and when I awoke Lucas had disappeared. I pulled off the blankets and trotted down the stairs. Lucas stood in the kitchen, cooking with Damien.
"He cooks?" I asked, running my hands across his bare back. He shivered visibly.
"He does," Lucas murmured, kissing my jaw lightly.
"I do too!" Damien pitched in, grinning wildly. I smiled back and glanced into the pans. Eggs and sausage were cooking, Damien with eggs and Lucas with sausage. I shifted the pan to roll them to the other side.
"You're making it hard to focus," I told Lucas as his hands ran along my sides and hips.
"Good," he smirked, kissing me roughly. I pulled back after a few seconds and flipped off the burner, "It's done."
Footsteps thundered on the stairs and people filed into the kitchen. Voices echoed around me and I stepped closer to Lucas, "Is it always this loud and hectic?"
"Always, especially when there's food," he chuckled and grabbed two plates, handing one to me. I scooped some eggs and sausage on, grabbing some toast from the plate on the counter. Lucas followed me to the table in the next room and sat by me. "What time is it?" I asked, shoving a bite of sausage in my mouth.
"Eighty-thirty, and listen I need to talk to you. Not now but after breakfast. Lindsey will help explain." My heart jumped the way it always did when someone said they needed to talk to me.
"Why? What is it?" I asked, fork clanging on the plate in front of me.
"It's just a theory we have about you," he replied, taking a huge bite from the toast.
"Like what?" My breathing sped up.
"Don't worry about it, just eat." I chewed the eggs and sausage together, letting the flavors mix. I finished the single egg and three sausages quickly, finishing off the toast. Lucas was done quite a while before me though he had much more. I didn't care how much he ate, I thought, his six pack is fantastic. He was still shirtless as he sat in front of me.
Vanessa strutted down the stairs, fashionably late I suppose. She looked at me with a look of hate, "Oh, she's back." Vanessa said 'she's' with an ugly sneer.
