Brynn POV

"She's awake? That's fantastic, can I go see her?" I asked in a rush of words and movements.

"You can, but she's... Well you'll have to see for yourself." Taylor told me. He beckoned me forward and we walked back to the house at a fast pace. I jogged up the stairs to keep up with him and soon we stopped in front of Dannielle's door. "Before you go in, just remember that she doesn't know what she's doing right now."

I nodded in confusion and opened the door. Lucas stood waiting for me a few steps inside the room and he smiled encouragingly at me.

I was surprised when I saw Dani's appearance. Her short dark hair was tussled and matted, her brown eyes were glazed, and she rocked back and forth on her bed with her knees pulled up to her chest. She muttered quiet nothings to herself, not seeming to notice us in the room.

"Dannielle?" I said, stepping closer to her. When she didn't respond I tried again. "Dani?" She looked up, eyes wild. Her lips parted and she let out a screech that was far from human. I stepped closer to Lucas and took his hand. "Are you okay?" I asked her.

Dani ripped at her bed covers and screamed, long and high. "Lucas what's wrong with her?" I asked, panicked.

"We think whatever spell she got hit with has caused her to basically go insane. Lindsey and Elliot's parents are coming by tomorrow to see if they can detect the exact spell she was attacked with. They might be able to undo it, or it might wear off on its own, but she may be like this forever." He explained, watching her cautiously out of the corner of his eye.

I stared at her for a few moments and her eyes locked on mine in a creepy stare off. As soon as I blinked she growled and jumped off of her bed, hands reaching for me. "Lucas!" I yelped backing towards the door.

"It's okay, we should leave now." He wrapped an arm around my waist and we scurried out the door, swinging it shut. Lucas locked the door behind us and we headed to the living room.

A few people sat on the couches, just relaxing, including: Emmitt, Holly, Kenzie, and Beck. I sat down next to Kenzie and Lucas sat on my left. "Hey," I said to her.

"Hi Brynn," She said in a quiet voice. I liked Kenzie, even though she was pretty shy, she was really nice. I smiled and looked at the TV in front of me. Wipeout was turned on and I laughed at how everyone was failing, thinking I could do better when I probably couldn't. "How are you?" She asked.

"I'm good, considering everything going on. It's all kind of confusing you know?" I replied, looking at her through unfocused eyes. "I mean being a witch and a werewolf's mate is crazy enough, let alone these crazy messages and people dying, Dannielle is insane and apparently there's a war coming."

"Yeah, I understand. Have you looked for anything in the library?" Kenzie asked, her young looking features smooth and simple.

"Earlier today we did, we found a prophecy but we aren't sure what it means really." I told her, blinking quickly.

"Oh well, I guess that's how it works. I'm sure you'll figure it out soon." She smiled encouragingly at me and brushed her hair behind her ear.

"Yeah." I turned to Lucas. "You want to go for a swim?"
