“So, what do you really think of Skylar?” Mark asked. Gerick walked off the path and sat on a nearby bench.
“What do you mean?” Gerick asked as he clasped his hands together.  Mark sat down beside him.
“Well,” Mark started, “You always talk about her, and I thought that maybe you have some feelings for the girl,”
“Feelings? For Skylar? No. definitely not. I would kill that girl if I had the chance. She’s so annoying. She’s always defending against me when we face each other, and no one ever passes to me, because she’s right in front of me! Seriously, why can’t this girl just cover someone else?”
“Hey Gerick, have you ever thought that maybe, the only reason why she only covers you, and no one else, is because she has a crush on you? I mean, think about it. Since your team is the best in the league, and there are other players on the team who are almost at your skill level, why doesn’t she cover anyone else?”

Gerick took a minute to think. He sat back, and stared up at the sky. “Well what if you’re right?” Gerick said. “What if she does like me? What does that prove? And what if she doesn’t? If I try to find out and she doesn’t, then how am I supposed to explain what I am doing?”
“Just play it cool. If she doesn’t like you, and she thinks that you like her, then just let her  keep thinking that, because when girls know that a guy likes them, sometimes it gets really awkward between them, and the girl tries to avoid them, and-”
“-and she will stop covering me! Mark, that’s genius!”  Gerick sprung up as he said this. Mark got up too, following what Gerick did. They started walking.
“So, I’m still a little confused, do you like her?” mark said, following Garrick’s step pattern.  Gerick hesitated before answering.
“No,” he started, “but I know exactly how to pretend that I do,” Gerick grew a mysterious smile on his face, “and I know exactly what to do when she does think that I like her…she won’t even see it coming.” Gerick started chuckling to himself.

It was at the point where mark and Gerick would go their separate ways. Gerick kept walking straight towards his house, and mark had to turn.
“Sunset!” Gerick shouted after mark, “don’t forget!”
     “I won’t!” mark shouted back.

As mark continued down the street, he saw that he was going to be walking down the street with another person. He decided that he would walk on the other side of the road, so that he would not have to interact. The person on the opposite side of the street seamed lost. She stopped, and started looking around, as if she had no idea where she was. She squinted her eyes, and starred down the street. She turned her head and noticed the boy with the graffiti shirt across the road from her. Her eyes widened, and her heart sped up.  She started sweating, and she didn’t know what to do.
“is he stalking me?” she thought, “did he actually see me behind that tree, or did he see me running away,  and now he’s following me to hurt me somehow?” now she was really panicking. She wanted toby. She wanted to be able to call him, and she wanted him to come to her rescue once again. She didn’t care that she was mad at him. She just wanted him and his safety.
Skylar knew her way back home, but she was so worried that everything looked exactly the same to her.  She could see Mark start to realize who she was.
“Skylar!” he called out. Skylar froze. She didn’t move.  She didn’t want to run away, because he would chase her, and she was still tired from the night before, fighting Gerick. She just stood there and smiled, as if she had no idea who he was.
“You’re Skylar, right?” mark said, just making sure. She nodded. “Gerick’s told me a lot about you. You’re even prettier up close than he said.” He took a step closer towards her. “You play on toby’s team, right?  I’ve seen you play. You’re really good.” He stated. He took a small step towards her. She stepped back. “What? You don’t like me? Ok,” he took a step back from her, and put his hands up.

Skylar sensed some trust with this boy. He didn’t try to hurt her. He respected her when she stepped back.  She started getting lightheaded. She had not eaten since a good half hour before the game the day before. It was now one o’clock, and she couldn’t think straight.

Mark knew that he should not get too involved in Skylar. He knew that Skylar was Gerick’s fight, or whatever it was. He was confused. He really didn’t understand Gerick. He thinks that Gerick really likes Skylar, but then there’s also something fishy going on with him.
“Are you lost?” Mark asked, “I could help you around, if you want, but you can’t tell Gerick, he’d kill me.”  Skylar just stared out into the distance. Mark waited for an answer. “Skylar?” he asked. He put his hand on her arm. “Skylar, are you okay-” she fell. She fainted. Mark caught her before she hit the ground. He looked around. No one was there to help her. He didn’t know who to call. Was it serious enough for emergency? Should he call Gerick? No. That would be a horrible mistake. He took his cell phone out of his pocket. He took a deep breath.
