chapter 15

After she was done she started to warm up her car and off to the reseraunt she was.

It was so warm in her car. Nice and toasty considering how freezing cold it was outside.

She got to the resteraunt and punched in. She started collecting all of the empty plates bowls and glasses from the front bar and put them in a bin, then brought them to the cleaning station at the back of the kitchen. She returned to the front bar with a cloth and started wiping down the counter.

As she was wiping, she heard the door open and looked up to see Jayden standing there.

"oh, hey Jayden," Skylar said with a warm smile.

"hey whats up?" Jayden replied as she shook off the snow in her hair and rubbed her hands to get warm.

"I'm just finishing with wiping the counters, I'll show you where to punch in in a second...are you dressed in uniform yet?" Skylar asked.

"Yup! and, is there any where I could put my coat?" Jayden asked ask she started to take off her jacket.

"Yeah," Skylar started as she left the rag on the counter, "I'll show you to your locker and then I'll show you where to punch in.

Jayden followed Skylar to the lockers where she put her coat and other belongings. Then she punched in and followed her back out to the front.

"can you hold this for a sec?" Skylar said to Jayden as she passed her a bin.

Jayden followed Skylar to tables and skylar strated putting the dishes into the bin and wiped down the table.

"You're not from around here are you?" Skylar questioned since she hasn't really seen her around.

"no, I just moved here a couple days ago from North Carolina,"

"oh, how come you moved here?"

"well i came here to live with my dad," she responded as they made their way to the next table.

"ohh..okay, so how do you like it here?"

"well, it's pretty cold," Jayden said as she looked outside. It seemed to Skylar that she was scared of snow.

"yeah, it gets pretty cold here in the winter...but the summers are just beautiful," she said with a smile that started to fade by the end of her sentence as she started to remember all those memories, "so are you staying permanantly or just temporarily?" Skylar said, snapping out of her flashback.

"I'm staying here for good, or at least until schools over,"

"What grade are you in?"

"Twelve," Jayden said as they walked to the kitchen and placed the bin next to the dishwasher and returned back out.

"Oh me too!" Skylar exlaimed, "I go to Omaha Highschool," she finished.

"Cool, that's where I'm starting,"

"maybe we might get a class together..except theres not much time until exams and then the semester ends, when do you start?" Skylar asked trying to be helpful.

"After the exams, the day semester two starts,"

"oh! Then maybe we will get a class together after all,"

"yeah, maybe,"

The clnversation died until a familiar couple walked into the resteraunt.

"Oh look, your first customer," Skylar said excitedly.

"well what am I suposed to do?" Jayden eagerly asled with a nervous tone.

"Go up to them, and say 'Hi welcome to Maggie's!' and it apears there's two of them so say 'table for two?' and then take the menus and lead them to a clean table," Skylar instructed, giving Jayden a little push towards the customers.

Skylar watched as she did as she said and led them to a table. Skylar noted where they were sitting on a seating plan behind the bar, and then walked over and stood beside Jayden.

"Can I interest you in a drink?" Jayden asked the customers. Before they responded Skylar spoke.

"hey Ava, John, this is Jayden, she's new here and she will be your waitress today. Would you like to start off with a coffee as usual?" She asked, handing Jayden a pad of paper and a black pen. 

The two nodded and Skylar walked to the kitchen and made their coffee. After Skylar returned, she handed them their coffees and from the corner of her eye noticed  Gerick walked in.

She felt herself starting to sweat out of nervousness. She turned to Jayden with her worried expression still on her face, and the words "hey, are you alright to take care of the next one on your own?" desperatly came out of her mouth. Jayden nodded back at her and Skylar slipped away to the back as she watched Jayden deal with Gerick.

Gerick ordered just a coffee from Jayden. He ordered it with four sugars and milk.

Jayden walked into the kitchen and prepared it for him as Skylar was completly busy with Ava's and John's orders that she blocked it all out completely.

When Jayden returned to Gerick, she placed the coffe down and was about to walk away when he quickly asked her eagerly about Skylar. Jayden refused to fetch Skylar for him and he soon gave into it and justbasked for the price of the coffee. He threw a $10 bill on the table and walked out, even though the coffee was only around $4.00.

Jayden walked back into the kitchen where she met up woth Skylar whonwas holding Ava's and John's orders.

"How was it?" she asked, noticing that hes left.

"He asked for you and then left a ten and walked out without even touching his coffee,"

"oh," Skylar sounded.

"Is something up?" Jayden asked, sensing something.

"No...  Here's their food," she said handing the food over to Jayden, and walked back to the front where she serviced other customers.

The rest of the night was pretty much that and Jayden would collect dishes and wipe down tables and counters.
