Rose is a runaway. She ran away when she was 13, joing a group home in hopes to be taken anywhere but her parents house. It hasn't happened yet. No one wishes to take care of a 16 year old. At least, that's what she thought, until she saw Taylor Swi...
Just kidding, but I looked at the numbers over and over again, trying to make some sense out of it. As we got to the hotel, Rose stirred in my lap. Colin, being the dad he was, gently picked her up, like a kid who fell asleep in their carseat. Up at the penthouse I took a quick shower, changing into my pajamas. The bracelet kept staring at me the whole time. Eventually, I got tired of wondering and shot a text to Tree.

As she worked on that, I typed the number into my contacts as well as a little greeting. I waited for something from Tree, an update, preliminary information, but I got impatient and sent it. The anxiety was too much because I put my phone down for the night, leaving it with the ringer on.
When I woke up the next day, it was to Rose getting into my bed, scrolling through her phone. "Good morning," she said the second she registered I was awake. "Tree keeps texting you, and that Travis guy texted." I shot up, rubbing my eyes and giving her a look. "Whatttt! I was in the bathroom when it started dinging, so I just peeked to make sure it wasn't important." Guess I was a deeper sleeper than I thought.
"You're sure you didn't snoop?" I asked her. She shook her head and climbed out from under the blankets.
"I don't need to know about whatever you and that Travis guy started. I laughed, also getting out of my bed. I quickly made it, smoothing out the blankets. I then went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and started my morning face routine. Just as I was getting the serum on my face, Rose peeked her head in. "Tree's spamming you, and my name's involved." I tilted my face, gently spreading the serum on my face before taking my phone and looking through my messages.
