New York City
I woke up, rolling over to see Taylor still sleeping peacefully, and Meredith seemed to have joined us in the middle of the night. I had spent the night here after a movie night with Taylor and Rose, only that Rose had left us not even halfway through the movie. Maybe she didn't like the movie we chose? But something was nagging at me. Maybe Rose didn't like me?
It was possible. Tay had told me about her history, and her bad experience with men. I stretched gently, trying not to wake Taylor, but too late. She rolled over to face me and with the biggest smile she could muster, threw an arm over me. "Good morning," she yawned, her face moving away from mine. I brought her closer by grabbing her waist, and she yelped as I started kissing her all over her face, bringing giggles into the room.
"Good morning, sweetie. Sorry if I woke you," I told her in between giggles and kisses. She shook her head, settling in on my chest as I ran my hand through her hair. I could hear something happening in the kitchen, like the sizzling of eggs in a skillet. I gestured to the kitchen, but Taylor shook her head.
"Rose. She cooks for herself then goes back to her room on Saturdays." I sat up, and Taylor's head now settled in my lap.
"Why don't I go say hi? I'm sure she wouldn't mind the company." Taylor sat up now, sighing. "What, am I doing something wrong?"
"Rose doesn't know what it's like to have a dad. We had this talk before, the one about you don't have to take the responsibility of being a dad to her. But you have to remember, this is a teenage girl we're dealing with. You might scare her off." I sighed, getting out from under the covers and letting my socks hit the floor. I went to the bathroom, using the toothbrush I had left here, and looking at Taylor, who was now smiling softly. "Don't push her too much, okay?"
"I promise," I said, finishing in the bathroom. "I have an idea," I continued, kissing the top of her head before walking out.
"Oh, hey Taylor," Rose said without looking up. I remember the call when Rose dropped the "Miss" off of Tay's name. She was so excited, saying that Rose was starting to trust her a little more. I cleared my throat, sitting across the island. "Oh. Hi, Mister Travis." I smiled at her, and she returned one with less energy.
"Hey girly. I was thinking..." I started, and she turned to face me instead of the eggs she was making. "Would you like to go to the mall? I'll be like a chaperone; you just walk around with your friends." I could see the gears turning in her head, and she pulled out her phone, ignoring me. I mentally sighed, knowing I tried my best, but Rose looked up from her pone and nodded.
"Sure," she said, smile growing. "We have space for 5 people?"

Taylor had cheered softly with me when I told her my plan had worked, and Colin got the SUV as we got to picking up people. Rose had dressed in what I think is called a romper and was busy talking with Colin. We went all around New York, picking up Rose's foster home friends, as well as a young adult woman and a 10-year-old little boy(Miles, I learned), and we were off. The chatter was all about catching up, and Colin smiled as we talked softly. The partition blocked out our conversation, so the people in the back couldn't hear us.
"Rose is a good kid," Colin said, smiling as he stopped at a red light. "You know, she constantly sneaks me food when she thinks I need a break? I live in the security house right, and she'll constantly come over with a sandwich or something and tell me that I need to stop worrying so much. She's like her mom in that sense." I knew he meant Taylor. We drove for a while longer and when we made it to the mall, everyone piled out. Rose told them they could get whatever on her. Little did she know we had swapped her card with mine, so it was on me really.
"Alright kiddos. We're here until 5. No complaining. Rose, I'll be close by, so will Colin. Don't make Tree mad at me." She smiled a big smile now, and everyone went on their way. I kept my promise and watched their back. Taylor had pulled some strings, like she had done in LA, and made it so it was closed for the general public. I don't think the others seemed to mind that.
It was a few hours until people got tired, and right on "curfew", everyone was ready to go. Well, except Rose. Something was up with her. As we dropped all her friends off, she got slightly more upset with each one. I texted Taylor, looking for help.

I texted the number and immediately got a response. I assumed Taylor had texted her before I did, because the message I got back was "Texting her alr". Worked for me.
We pulled back into Tay's driveway to drop Rose off, and I was going to say good-bye to Taylor since I had a game the next day. But she came out with a suitcase instead. "Woah, where you going?"
"I'm going to the game! I have nothing else to do. Rose, you wanna come with?" I could see her fingers flying across the screen, hopefully to Jade. She looked up towards Taylor, then me, then shrugged and went, "Okay." She went inside, and as Colin helped Tay put her suitcase in, Rose came out with a bag. First family trip. I think I'm winning Rose over.
Rose
He's totally winning me over.
