The kitchen was filled with the aroma of spices and sizzling oil, but the air carried something else too—tension.
Aaravi, focused on her cooking, moved with practiced ease, her hands stirring, chopping, and adjusting flavors without hesitation.
Nikshant walked in silently, his gaze fixed on her, watching her every move.
His presence was unmissable, yet Aaravi chose to ignore him, hoping he would take the hint and leave.
But Nikshant Roy Kapoor was never one to take hints.
"Hey! Wifey, what are you cooking?" his voice was teasing, light-hearted.
Aaravi didn't respond, her hands continued chopping as if he didn't exist.
Nikshant smirked.
Oh, so she was ignoring him?
He stepped closer, invading her space.
Peeking over her shoulder, he tried to see what she was making, aaravi's brows furrowed.
Why was he breathing down her neck like this? Her peripheral vision caught his smirking face leaning way too close to her.
"You didn't tell me what you're cooking," he whispered near her earlobe.
"Won't you talk to me, wifey?" Nikshant's voice was teasing as he leaned closer, watching her intently.
Aaravi didn't respond, her face clearly showing her growing irritation. And Nikshant? He loved it. That annoyed little frown, the way she pursed her lips—it only made her look cuter in his eyes.
"You're looking cute, baby," he grinned and playfully pinched her cheek.
Aaravi shot him a deadly glare, her patience wearing thin. He was getting on her nerves. She hated being disturbed while cooking—she needed to focus. But this man? He had made it his life's mission to distract her. And right now, he was succeeding.
"Waise—" he started, but before he could finish, Aaravi, in one swift motion, grabbed a spoonful of red chili powder and stuffed it into his mouth to shut him up.
( Anyway— )
Nikshant's eyes widened in pure horror. His face contorted as the fiery spice hit his tongue like an explosion. His throat burned instantly, and he instinctively tried to spit it out, but before he could, Aaravi grabbed his jaw, squeezing it shut.
"Swallow it," she said, her voice sickeningly sweet, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Nikshant's eyes burned, turning red as the fire spread down his throat. His breath hitched, his body tensed, and against all his will, he gulped it down. The moment the spice hit his stomach, a choked gasp escaped his lips, and he spun around desperately, searching for water.
His vision blurred, tears streamed down his face, and panic set in. His hands fumbled around the kitchen, but there was no relief in sight. Just as he thought he might pass out from the burn, a hand appeared before him, holding a glass of water.
Without thinking, he snatched it and downed the entire glass in one go, panting as he wiped his teary eyes. His chest heaved, his lips tingling from the spice.
Aaravi leaned against the counter, arms crossed, an innocent smirk playing on her lips.
"That should teach you not to mess with me while I'm cooking," she mused, tilting her head.
