i make it to the headmaster's office just in time.
"headmaster grimm?" i hear apple's voice from the inside. i open the door and step inside. "you're never going to believe it! the best thing ever after has happened!"
i stand next to raven. "what happened?" i whisper to her. "you were so certain you weren't going to sign."
"i know, but.." raven whispers back to be, but is cut off when the headmaster speaks. he was facing the window behind his desk, resting his hand on the storybook's protective case. no doubt holding back some excited smile.
"really?" he asks. "and what is that?"
raven exhales. "i want to sign the storybook of legends."
"isn't that spelltastic?" apple gushes, hugging raven.
"it certainly is," the headmaster says. i cross my arms. "whatever made you change your mind?"
"apple was right," raven says. "i was being selfish. i don't want anything to happen to our friends."
before i can even say a word, apple giggles with excitement, and the headmaster speaks, turning around to face us.
"well! i'm glad you finally see the story from our point of view. i shall make the arrangements! the thronecoming parade will be seen by millions in the magical world." the prospect clearly makes raven nervous. "it'll be the perfect time for you to sign your destiny."
"uh.. millions?" raven squeaks. apple claps, smiling even brighter than before.
the headmaster turns to me. "can we count on you to sign as well, miss swan?"
i huff. "i'm afraid not." i tell him, turning to leave. "i'm not as easily convinced that not signing is as bad as you make it out to be."
when raven comes out, i grab her by the arm, walking through the school's halls to get to the dorms. raven protests, but i don't listen.
blondie's voice projects over mirror cast as we walk.
"can you believe it, fairytale fanatics? raven queen is going to sign the storybook of legends! why, this is the most epic thing to happen since," she pauses. "since she didn't sign the storybook."
"you have some explaining to do."
raven sighs, slumping a little against my hold. she knows i'm going to get my answer one way or another.
