Chapter 31.

She kissed him.

He didn't initiate it.

It was her.

She willingly kissed him.

His heart fluttered in happiness.

Her kisses were too addictive for him, her lips were so soft and the fact that she kissed him was a sign that he made progress. He was aware that Santos was coming to see her so he made sure even though he didn't know who, he would know that someone else is in the picture. It worked. Santos knows that his position in Diana's life gas a capable eligible competitor and he couldn't compare.

"Wowww..." He said silently against her lips and she chuckled leaning back.

"What???" She said chuckling lightly and getting just looked at her completely mesmerized.

Her lips intoxicated him and every logic goes out the window the minute she looks at her. It was a different feeling one that he had never experienced to this depth. There she was personified, his peace in the midst of all the storm and chaos. In her eyes, in her arms the weight and the burden he bared on his shoulders for years became lighter. She was like a breath of fresh air.

"You aren't real... " He said silently and she laughed gently.

"Of course am not... Am an alien!!" She said and they both laughed softly.

"That makes a lot of sense..." He said laughing and she nudged him playfully.

"So what are you??" She said laughing softly.

"Am your doctor!!" He said dramatically and she laughed.

"What kind of doctor???"

"Your personal heart doctor!!"

"Oh wow... Really now??"

"Yes... Am here to repair your broken heart..." He said softly and she smiled gently looking into his stormy eyes.

"Why me?? If anything we hated each other when we first met..." She said calmly and he smirked.

"Then we went on thousands of dates and I got to know you..."

"Really??"

"Yes... You are everything I need,,"

"Someone better will come and you will realize am not all that!!" She said firmly and he raised an eyebrow confusion and irritation so clear.

"Don't sell yourself short... Believe me when I tell you that you are all that and so much more!!" He said firmly and she rolled her eyes lightly.

"Time will tell..."

"Why were you crying???" He said calmly and suddenly her smile disappeared.

"I don't want to be rude so don't ask..." She said coldly.

"Am sorry... I didn't mean to pry–" He said lightly and she nodded.

Gio was seated at the dinning table with the rest of the family as they chatted over light jokes. It was routine where they'd all meet at dinner once a week for quality time and barbecue on Sunday.

"Gio my dear... Tell us what are you upto??" Aunt Greta said smiling at him suspiciously.

"Nothing aunt." He said calmly.

"He's probably thinking of his ' precious Cara'... " Maliah said mockingly and Liam laughed.

"Baby I love you... You are my world–" Liam said imitating Gio's voice as everyone laughed.

"What do you want for your Thursday gift?? A plane?? My gold card?? Both..." Maliah said also imitating Gio's voice.

"Is that's supposed to be me?!! " Gio said waving his fork at his younger siblings who were laughing so hard.

"No it's supposed to be the chicken–" Maliah said laughing.

"Haha very funny!!" Gio said lightly as the whole family laughed on.

"Son, your aunt is right... Something is different about you..." Clarissa said smiling observing her son.

"Nothing is up...Dad, do you notice anything??" Gio said turning to his father who smirked lightly.

"Gio my boy let me tell you something, women have this secret talent to see what we can't..." Lorenzo said calmly and Gio chuckled.

"Clearly not all women, this clown's secret talent is stupid!!" Liam said pointing to Maliah who smacked the back of his head.

"Dad!!!" Maliah fake cried.

"Liam, leave your sister alone!!" Lorenzo said firmly and Maliah smirked at him.

"Stupid cow!!!" Liam whispered to Maliah.

"Ugly baboon!!" Maliah said to Liam.

"Gio, what's going on??" Aunt Greta said and he took a sip of his wine smiling.

"Aunt I really have no idea what you are talking about..." Gio said chuckling lightly.

"You seem happier, less stressed..." Aunt Greta said smiling and he laughed lightly.

"Is it because Cara is not around??" Maliah said lightly and he smiled.

"It has nothing to do with Cara. Am just happy... Everything is slowly falling into place, Dad is recovering better, Aunt Gia is no longer having the episodes she used to have, she's also making a full recovery... Business is doing great, the feds are off our backs... Everything is simply running smoothly for the first time in months!!" Gio said calmly and everyone cheered lightly.

"Most of this is because of Doctor Pierce!!" Clarissa said smiling as everyone agreed.

"I owe her my life literally!!" Aunt Greta said smiling gratitude flashing her eyes.

"I think this family owes her a great deal of gratitude!!" Lorenzo said firmly leaning back to his seat.

"Maybe we can invite her for dinner??" Clarissa said looking at Lorenzo.

"That would be lovely!!" Lorenzo said smiling happily.

"I agree!! Maybe she can show you what a real woman looks like..." Maliah said lightly stuffing her mouth with food.

"Certainly it doesn't look like you!!" Liam said before sipping his wine and Maliah rolled her eyes.

"Try reaching out to her, whenever she's available you'll let us know..." Clarissa said lightly and they continued eating.

Gio was happy but it was majorly because of the bond he's building with Diana. She was silently warming up to the idea of him being around and he knew he had already beat Santos to it. It was crazy for him to even admit it but he knew that it was her that would bring stability to his very unstable world. The look in her eyes alone shows him his future one that he actually looked forward to. It all started with him trying to find a way to break Detective Santos personally and in a way he's still doing it but with a different purpose.

"Gio my love..." Aunt Greta said smiling raising his eyebrows playfully at him as everyone chatted in their own world.

"Shh... I'll tell you everything," Gio whispered to her happily.

"You better!!" Aunt Gia said laughing lightly and he chuckled lightly taking a bite of his food.
