Chapter 33.

The sun rays made its way through the curtains of the guest room gently waking up Giovanni who was had a well rested sleep. He slowly sat up reaching to his phone that was on the bedside table. He looked through the dozen of missed calls from Matteo and the series of other calls from his dad and other associates. He went through the text messages from Matteo and suddenly his anger coursed through his veins.

He called Matteo and immediately he answered on the first ring.

"Where the hell have you been? I have been trying to reach you all night!!" Matteo said hurriedly.

"You found me. Now what is this entire bullshit of product missing?" Gio said getting out of bed.

"Eight dead men and product worth four million dollars missing... This is getting complicated-"

"complicated? This is someone trying to show they can reach us anytime..."

"This is bad Gio especially with the feds up our ass!!"

"The feds are not a problem but there are so many unanswered questions... I'll be there in two hours!!" He said coldly before ending the call.

Frustration was lurking through his system like a flood. No one had the courage or the confidence to plan and execute an entire attack on him. He went into the luxurious bathroom and freshened. Diana's guest bathroom was just as luxurious as the actual room. It was already stocked up with all the necessities fresh towels, basic toiletries like shampoo, body wash, conditioner and so much more. It looked like luxurious suite comfortable for all sorts of guests which was very convenient  considering he had to drive straight to work. He freshened up and got dressed before taking his stuff and leaving the room. He walked downstairs as the soft laughs and barking of dogs was accompanied by a beautiful delicious aroma of good food and hot coffee. The dogs turned to him and started barking as he made his way into clear view as Diana made breakfast.

"Easy boys, we talked about this... no scaring  my guests away, go pick up those toys and put them away before breakfast..." She said lightly and they barked off before running off.

"Good morning beautiful..." He said smiling lightly walking up to her.

"Good morning... Hope you had a wonderful rest considering you slept so late watching spongebob," She said smiling lightly as she served the last pancake.

"It was a good cartoon," He said lightly neatly sitting on the seat next to the kitchen island.

"I told you it was a good cartoon,"

"i guess i should learn to trust your instincts then..."

"I agree, it will save you a lot trouble..." She said serving him a plate of pancakes with covered with honey with strawberry and blueberries which was accompanied with a hot cup of coffee.

"This looks lovely... I think i will make it a point in my life to join you for meals once in a while," He said smiling lightly at her taking again into notice her beauty. her hair was tied in a rough high bun and she was dressed in a baggy grey shirt and baggy pants.

"A handsome man like you is always welcome to try my cooking..." She said smiling lightly maintaining eye contact before she stepped away to serve herself breakfast but instead of coffee she took a glass of milk.

"So am handsome now huh??" He said smirking lightly and she rolled her eyes playfully.

"I think we already established that fact..." She said calmly before eating her food and he chuckled lightly before eating his food.

They ate their food as they made small talk until they were done then she poured up food for all the dogs and once they were done picking their toys they came out to eat. While the dogs ate they cleared the dishes together before he slowly walked up behind her wrapping his arm around her.

"Where's baby Mariana??" He whispered gently next to her ear and she chuckled lightly leaning back into him.

"She's fast asleep..." She said calmly leaning as he placed light kisses on the side of her face and he chuckled calmly.

"You want to know something interesting..."

"Tell me..."

"I have been here the whole night and i've had the honour of sharing breakfast with you but i have not seen any traces of your husband at all..."He said lightly and she chuckled turning around in his arms to face him.

"Well, that might be because he's on a business trip and he'll be back in a few days..."

"Assuming I believe you... Does that mean you have a hall pass to be with me??"

"Be with you? For a few days??"

"Yes..." He said brushing his nose with hers and she chuckled lightly.

"Why?? Don't you have a girlfriend or a wife??"

"I told you am all yours if you want me to be..." He said lightly before planting a soft lingering kiss on her lips.Their lips as if on cue moved in a perfect sequence as he held on to her taking in every bit of opportunity he had to enjoy her lips. She traced her fingers to the back of his neck  as the other fingers trailed to the back of his biceps  tightening the hold around her waist. He inhaled her scent letting her beautiful fragrance linger on him and his masculine fragrance linger on her. How he felt in her arms was a peaceful feeling he hadn't experience in a very long time and to him nothing mattered other than this moment where it was just them in each other's arms and enjoying each other's company. She broke off the kiss letting it linger for a while before looking into his eyes lightly and he was again drawn into her beautiful hazel eyes.

"I think we should pause that right here before you get late..." She said signaling him to his phone that was continuously vibrating on the kitchen island and he chuckled lightly.

"They can survive without me but they are too chicken to even try..." He said lightly before walking back to his phone finding missed calls from Cara and Matteo.

"Sometimes its good that they are too chicken to try because that means mistakes are rare..." She said lightly and he smiled lightly.

"Let me guess... Surgery taught you that??"

"Maybe..."

"What else did it teach you??"

"If i was to tell you then you will certainly be late." She said and he smirked putting his phone in his pocket once his driver confirmed he was waiting outside. He walked up to her and held her hand gently genuinely looking into her eyes calmly.

"I don't remember the last time i was this relaxed..." He said silently searching deep into her beautiful eyes for any sign that would stop him from pushing the narrative further.

He saw none.

"Oh really..." She said lightly chuckling lightly.

"Yes actually...When can we do this again??"

"A sleepover??"

"Not necessarily a sleepover... When can we get to spend time together??"

"Am on maternity leave for 3 months so i can safely say its up to you when you decide to visit me and my baby..."

"What about this supposed husband of yours??" He said and they both laughed,

"Am sure we'll figure something out..." She said lightly then his phone buzzed again getting them off their frenzy. He checked the caller ID but still didn't answer the call so she walked him to the front door. He gave her a gentle goodbye kiss that lingered for a minute before they broke it off and he left the heavily guarded residence. He found his driver waiting for him outside and once he got in everything changed.

Someone who knew about the whole setting is the one who leaked the location of the product.

That someone is about to curse the day life dawned on them.
