"Isaac!" Dani continued to scream, her voice breaking in fear, Allison stood behind with wide eyes as Chris banged his hand on the door.
Dani threw her elbow against it yet again, mustering all the strength she could gather, She threw herself against it one last time as it flew open, the girl sprinted towards the boy who lay on the floor at the bottom of her bed, ignoring the photocopied pages of the bestiary sprayed out across the room, her lamp and desk chair that had been knocked over, she reached the boys side in an instant as she fell to her knees beside him. She lifted his head into her lap as he shook in fear, his hands grasping at his shirt.
Chris stood in the doorway with a gun in hand whilst Allison stood behind holding a flashlight, shining it around the dark room.
He was shivering, "Get him a blanket! Go!" Allison grabbed one from the bed as she chucked it their way, as Dani wrapped him up, the palm of her hand cradling his face as she held his head up, his eyes darting around everywhere in shock. "What's wrong with him?" She asked loudly to Chris, her eyes not leaving the boy.
Allison and Chris kneeled on the other side of him as Allison pressed the back of her hand to his forehead. "He's freezing Dad, he's like ice"
Dani breathed heavily as she grasped ahold of Isaac's hand who squeezed it tightly in return. Chris grabbed his jaw with two hands. "Isaac, look at me. Isaac"
"What's happening to him?" Dani asked through her panicked breaths.
"Isaac come on! Isaac listen you have to turn. Look at me!" He slapped him across the face as his face buried in Dani's arms, "You need to trigger it! Come on! Turn!"
He punched him. He punched him again. Dani watched in terror as nothing happened before Chris looked to her.
"Bite him"
"Excuse me?" She practically spat out.
"Do it! He needs to trigger his healing" He ordered.
Dani looked at the boy in desperation before looking at Chris again, she leaned forwards and lifted his arm as she sunk her teeth into his flesh.
In an instant, she felt the boys reflexes return as she shot back, her head hitting the wood of her bed frame as Isaac's eyes glowed, the boy shoving Chris and Allison back as he scurried backwards, his eyes darting between the family as he sat against the bed next to Dani.
His eyes were glossed over as a couple of stray tears trailed down his cheeks. He turned to look at the girl beside him, "Did you see them?" He whispered, his gaze travelling to Allison and Chris.
"Who?" Dani asked, matching the quietness of his voice.
"There were five of them" Isaac choked out, looking anywhere but the people surrounding him as another tear fell. "They wore black. I- I couldn't.. I couldn't see their faces. They were covered"
