Chapter 14 - Blackkit's POV

My eyes shot open when I realized how hot it was in the den. I couldn't take it anymore. The entire night was humid and breath taking, making it impossible to sleep. I was constantly tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable... It didn't faze my energy level, though, I realized after I woke up fully.

I stood up and, with my fur knotted and dirty, I pounced onto Zombiekit. "Wake up, silly! Let's go bug the elders and warriors!" I chirped, pushing him out of the nest. He yelped in surprise and hopped up in defence. Zombiekit's fur was fluffed up, twigs and moss all through it. Purring, I set him off.

He lunged for me and landed on my shoulders, growling and spitting with embarrassment. We tumbled around the nursery, trying to pin one another to the ground, intending to keep it up until one of us won. "Go out if you're going to be annoying like that!" Our mother exclaimed, rolling over. Her sass was practically hitting us in the face; I rolled my eyes. Her back was now to us. As she scolded us, we froze. Zombiekit was on top of me, but neither of us noticed as we hurried out of the hot nursery.

Cinnamon was cleaning herself, her ginger pelt glowing in the daylight and her sass glowing even brighter. Creamypool and Blackerthanblack lay together in the sun, as well, near the elders entrance. "I'll get Creamypool, you get Blackerthanblack!" Zombiekit muttered, keeping his bright eyes on the targets. They'll never see us coming!

Zombiekit took one way while I took the opposite; I silently headed for my sleeping target. I was already burning up once I hit the midway part. No clouds were out the save us from the sun today... Nor for the past half-moon. This past half-moon had been deathly hot; no rain or clouds disturbing the hot rays of our sunlight. The elders made us aware every second heartbeat of how hot it was with their raspy complaints, too, so we could never forget.

We creeped up slowly and surely until we were a tail-length away. I could feel the Clans' eyes on us as we paused. Zombiekit flicked his tail to attack, so in that instant, I pounced with my brother at my side. I soared through the air and landed on Blackerthanblack's stomach. Both elders squeaked in shock, throwing us off.

"What in DeadClan's name do y'all think you're doin'?" Blackerthanblack gasped in bewilderment. Creamypool stood up and, with her shaky, fragile legs, she took hasty steps towards Zombiekit. "Why I otta rip that smile right off ya face and shove it right on down ya throat until it comes right on out of ya asshole!" She snarled. Zombiekit and I bounded away towards the nursery, squealing and purring at the same time.

Once we dove into the safety of the nursery, we let out full purrs as we caught our breath. "Did you... see their... faces?!" I slapped the ground with my front paw several times as I couldn't help but keep purring ecstatically.

"They were all like: *GASP*!" Zombiekit recalled, "And then they acted like we were from OhshitwediedClan!" I nodded in agreement, unable to speak because I was purring so much. "Okay, Blackkit, breathe!" My brother purred. Taking in a huge breath, I was able to get myself to stop purring almost completely.

We headed out of the den once again as Bitchlord began setting out patrols. Zombiekit and I huddled by the nursery entrance. My brother was way too close for my comfort - especially in the heat - so I shoved him over. "It is too hot for your greasy rat fur to be touching me!" I hissed. He just gave me a dirty look; he scrunched up his nose and stuck out his tongue to mock me.

Our medicine cat poked his head out of the den as the last patrol was sent out. He glared at us as he headed out of the camp, chin raised and tail lashing. Sassy motherfucker right there, I thought, rolling my eyes. "Is he still mad about that? Wow." Zombiekit commented.
