(Y/N'S POV)

(Y/N) pulled back her fist, her knuckles stinging as she yanked out the shards of glass embedded in her skin. Tiny streaks of blood trickled down her fingers, but she didn't flinch—not even once. Her piercing gaze remained locked on the agents, especially the one who had the audacity to suggest she was working with her father.

"Let's get one thing straight," she said, her voice dangerously steady. "I will neverwillingly—work with Dr. Eggman." She let the weight of her words settle, watching as tension thickened the air. "It's bad enough that adults constantly undermine my intelligence, dismiss my ideas, and treat me like some naive kid." She took a step forward, her presence demanding their attention. "But let me remind you of something."

Her fingers curled into a tight fist again.

"That man took control of me. He hijacked my mind, my body, my will—and turned me against my own friends. I was forced to fight the people I love. I was forced to fight the love of my life."

Silence.

Not a single agent dared to speak.

"Yeah, that's what I thought," Y/N scoffed. "Like it or not, I'm the only one who can get you answers on Project Shadow. And if you really don't trust me..." She tilted her head, her smirk sharp as a blade. "Then why would you even want me working with Topaz and Rouge?"

Rouge, who had been quietly observing, smirked. The girl had guts. She took crap from no one.

Y/N let out a breath and pushed up her goggles, the lenses flashing a vivid red as her eyes gleamed behind them.

"So," she drawled, crossing her arms, "do you want my help now so I can start hacking and get ahead of Eggman? Or would you rather sit around and wait until he makes his move with whatever he stole?"

Her challenge hung in the air, unspoken but very clear:
"Make your choice."

The limo jerked to a halt, the tires grinding against the pavement. I didn't wait for an invitation to step out—I shoved the door open and hopped out, Rouge and Topaz following suit. We barely had time to straighten up before the vehicle sped off, disappearing down the road.

I exhaled sharply, rolling my shoulders. The nerve of these people.

I could tell the President was somewhat on my side—he wasn't totally useless—but that guy beside him? The one who wouldn't shut up? He acted like I was some criminal on parole instead of the literal reason they weren't all wiped off the face of the earth by Eggman's schemes. And to top it off, he had the audacity to tell me I should be grateful they hadn't locked me up yet.
