Warning of a problem.

It is time that responsibility and service to the many dominate the acquisition of power.

What are the influences of who acquires power and how power is used?

Let's look closely at the principles of self-rule we'd want to keep and the principles overdue for change.

In what order can and should we make changes to our self-rule?

Our country is about to learn a hard lesson about allowing unbounded advantage and power being placed in hands of those who are selfish and irresponsible.

Source of the problem.

Primary influence encouraging advantage and power is religious scripture and education.

Religious scripture has a hierarchical (strongman) perspective spawned in ancient times in order to prevent those not in power exercising power over those in power.

Religious scripture is filled with promoting a population's elite rights to direct what the overall population can and can't do but allowing the elite to be exempt.

There is, also, ample evidence of incessant conflict between different elites in scripture.

Scripture is a compilation of creative efforts tapping spiritual perspectives expressed in stories, metaphor and rules of thumb about human behavior.

Reading and writing skills are used to protect elite advantage and power.

Education divides the population into those with access to advantage and those meant to serve those with advantage.

Note the change in prosperity and political contention when reading and writing skills were widened.

Those chosen to serve are channeled into society's operation while those meant for power are sheltered from the direct effects of the society's operation.

Any pronouncements by advantaged and power invite scrutiny for embedded self-interest.

Current self-rule drawbacks.

Re-write to the interpretation of each social purpose is overdue but can't be changed in an instant of time.

A guiding principle to self-rule of us is that the diversity of humanity is wide and rarely fully appreciated by those in power.

For all human beings, the normal focus of each of us, is what is comfortable and the relationship with the advantaged and powerful.

Guess what the response is, privately, when the disadvantaged and powerless are discussed by the advantaged and powerful.

Doesn't remotely match up with public pronouncements by the same individuals.

An existing insulation from the realities of an overall population sponsors illusion in the advantaged and powerful about themselves, doesn't it?

Small numbers of the population with actual possession of power are an inadequate means of self-rule of us because the use of power is too shallow.

Pressure by the population that power be used properly is necessary.

Small slivers of a population imagine themselves with higher distinction over everyone else.

They are limited in capacity to understand their responsibility to the population than the overall population understands that responsibility.

The ruling elite benefit best when continuously scrutinized and challenged by all the population because it encourages responsibility and encourages the powerful to release their hold on power.
