I  hastily bounded out of her way, and ran to the other side of the cage, where she had been sitting so peacefully only moments before.

My heart hammered against my rib cage. And all the hairs on my arms were standing on end.

Bonnie crashed into the metal bars of the cage, sending a low ringing sound through the room. I cringed, imagining the smarting pain this would bring her.

But the pain did not seem to faze her. She turned on me again, her lips slid back, letting loose a threatening roar. She crouched once more.

I was frozen in fear, when all of a sudden she howled in pain and fell to the floor. She started thrashing around wildly yelping in agony. She changed back into a human and grabbed the collar around her neck with both hands, trying in vain to pull it off, all the while continuing to scream in anguish, tears spilling in a torrent down her face.

I was stupefied for a second, until my mind caught up to what had occurred.

Someone’s hurting her.

I turned my head to the door, and saw a women scientist--who had been here yesterday when I first came into this room.

She was standing in the doorway her hand held out in front of her, holding the little black control. Her eyes were wide, and I could hear the fast pulse of her heart.

“Stop” I crocked at her, unable to yell as loud as I wanted to, while I was still in shock.

“Are you ok?” she asked looking at me with concern all the while she continued to hold down the little button on the control. Bonnie’s screams barley sounded human anymore, and she was gasping for breath, the air rasping down her throat.

“Leave her alone!” I yelled at her vehemently.

“I told them,” she muttered to herself, “that monster is dangerous.” she frowned at the little girl thrashing on the cold segmented floor, then she finally let go of the button and Bonnie’s cries seceded.

Bonnie was quivering on the ground, breathing in rasping gasps, her body once again soaked in perspiration.

“Don’t worry,” the lady said, “we’ll find a nice place where you can stay.” she started to go through the hundreds of  keys she had on her key chain.

“No, I’m staying with Bonnie.”

Her face furrowed, “who?”

I nodded my head to where Bonnie lay on the floor.

“You want to stay with it?” she asked perplexed.

She is not an it!

“Yes.”

“But it was trying to kill you!” she breathed baffled. Her frown intensified.

“No, she wasn’t…we….we were just playing a game.” I lied.

She narrowed her eyes at me clearly not believing. “If… if that’s what you want.” she complied, probing my face with her eyes.

“Yes” I nodded my head, she could not mistake this for a lie, my voice rang with sincerity.

“Well…fine, Mr. Buchcowski did want you to stay with it anyway… but next time it shows aggression just touch that red button over there, and it won’t bother you anymore, and be careful.” she looked worried, but walked towards the door. I turned to look at the button she described. It was the same one Mr. Tank had shown me yesterday. I shuddered, no way would I ever use it.
