(Taylor P.O.V.)
I heard people yelling and screaming, as their footsteps raced out of the clinic.
Bonnie’s nails clicked noisily against the limousine floor as she quickly moved through the hall.
A growl rippled around us.
Niki jumped six feet in the air, and quickly hurried behind me, letting me act as a shield. Even though I knew Bonnie would never hurt me, I shivered at the sound.
I heard as Bonnie leaped up, her claws scrapped along the wood of the door and then slammed the door handle down, unlocking the door.
Bonnie shoved the door open, and stood there. Her fangs shone iridescent in the weak light, and so did her eyes.
Her eyes were a nerve racking deep burgundy color.
Another threatening growl started in her throat before she caught sight of me, and the growl cut off.
“Bonnie” I breathed her name in relief, she was all right.
She stared at me in what I would guess to be astonishment on her face. Some of the red swirling in her eyes melted a little, letting the golden yellow shine through.
Bonnie’s muzzle fell open, and pulled back over her teeth. I would have been frightened by the change, except the golden color in her eyes got deeper--all the crimson melting away.
A joyful yap came from her mouth, before she flew onto me, and showered me in her sloppy kisses.
I would have been frozen in shock from the emotion surging out of her, except I didn’t exactly like being swathed in slobber, and she was crouched on my chest, her nails digging into my not yet healed bruises.
“Ow ow ow,” I complained.
She coughed an apology before jumping down again. Her body was wiggling in excitement, and her tail was wagging! Actually swishing back and forth like a dog!
I heard Niki shift from foot to foot uneasily behind me.
That snapped Bonnie out of her happy stupor.
She must have totally forgotten that Niki was there.
Her eyes zeroed in to the woman behind me, and she stalked deliberately forward; her teeth shining menacingly once more.
“No, Bonnie, don’t” my voice cracked as I felt the building tension collecting around me.
Bonnie eyes shifted to me astonished. She looked back and forth between us, trying to understand what was happening.
Niki’s breath was coming out in ragged breaths behind me. I could almost smell the fear and adrenaline poring off her, mixed with her sweat.
Bonnie seemed to smell it better than me, because suddenly a hungry look came to her eyes, and she took another step towards Niki.
“Please, Bonnie, stop. She won’t hurt us!” I rushed through the words in my panic.
Bonnie sighed when she looked back at me, clearly thinking I was the most stupid person on the planet—and maybe I was. But she listened and sat down, ignoring Niki totally.
