Kira walked towards the house and only took a bag's worth of supplies: two hundred dollars, hiking boots, three shirts, two pairs of pants, and a bottle of water. Meanwhile, Kiki had a heated discussion with Marsha.
"What the hell?! Why'd you let him go?!"
"Training session's over. I'll see you at dinner." Marsha walked away.
Later that evening, at the dinner table, Kiki and Marsha ate quietly. They were staring at each other intensely. Suddenly, a knock on the door broke the silence. Kiki stood up and opened the front door. She opened the door and felt a rose being pushed into her hand.
"Hey, Kiki! You expect to go to the movies like that?"
"Mika! Saturday already? Shit! Let me go change, I'll be right back! Come in, come in. Mom's in the dining room." she said, not giving Mika time to reply.
"Uh, okay..." he mumbled, standing in front of the abandoned door. He walked into the dining room, where Marsha was quietly eating her sphagetti.
"Hey, Ms. Lawrence. Something up with Kiki?" Mika asked curiously.
Marsha shrugged and continued eating her food.
"Let's go!" said Kiki, running down the stairs.
As they walked to the nearby movie theater, Mika seemed to notice that Kiki would lose herself in thought a lot.
"Kiki? Kiki?!"
"Huh, what?"
"I said, 'What movie do you want to see?'"
"Umm, you pick." she said, dragging her hand on the bars of the school gate. (The movie theater "happened" to be in front of the school )
Mika sighed. Something's definitely wrong... he thought.
After the movie, Mika and Kiki headed to an old ice cream shop next door. They sat down, and Mika ordered a double sunday with extra nuts. When it arrived, he pulled it towards him.
"Hey!" Kiki whined.
"No, no, no! First, tell me what's on your mind." Mika tempted her, the sunday was drizzled in chocolate syrup.
"Mehh... but the sundae..." she complained in a little girl voice.
"Eh, no! Tell me." he countered.
"It's just... Family troubles."
"Come to think of it, where's Jonah? I mean, I didn't see him at the house."
Kiki let her head fall on the table, letting out a big sigh.
"So, did he run away or something?" he joked, chuckling a little.
"Actually, he did." she said seriously, sitting back up.
"What?! Then, why are we here?! We have to tell someone!"
"Marsha knows. She didn't let me follow him."
"Why?!" Mika stood up, enraged.
"Just forget it, Mika. He's eighteen and he has parental consent. It's not illegal, so let's just let it be." Kiki mumbled.
Mika sat back down. There was a moment of silence until:
"That explains the letter that he gave me."
"What letter?" Kiki was suddenly filled with curiosity.
"He left me a letter and told me to give it to you." Mika said, taking something out of his pocket. He handed it to Kiki, who then opened it up.
