chapter twenty-six: your sky

Chaeyoung was restless.

She had been nervous the whole day waiting for an update from Chanyeol regarding her threat to him yesterday. Her uneasiness had been obvious to Jungkook since lunchtime at the hotel. He had told her to relax and wait until 4pm as that was the time she met Chanyeol yesterday.

However, there was nothing even after 4pm. She was losing hope on waiting.

"I guess that's it. I'm going to get a lawyer to deal with him.", she said to Jungkook, who had been accompanying her to go to the orphanage Haneul was staying at.

"Are you sure?", he asked, turning his face to Chaeyoung who had been watching the orphanage quietly.

"I know it will be a long procedure but I don't have much choice. Just look at me right now, I'm helpless.", she replied as she waited for Haneul's appearance from afar.

After lunch, she asked Jungkook to accompany her to the orphanage and he rented a car to get there. Since three hours ago, they parked the car at the roadside nearby and stayed there to look at the orphanage. There was not much movement outside and they did not know what happened inside it. They were waiting in vain.

"I'm already here, but I can't see her.", Chaeyoung wiped the tears that almost left her eyes.

"What if we come back tomorrow in the morning? We..come here before school time. We might see her go to school.", he suggested.

Chaeyoung shook her head, "No, we should go back tomorrow. I've taken a lot of your time already-"

"Wait. I have to take this call.", Jungkook said as he looked at his phone.

As Jungkook got out of the car, Chaeyoung took her phone and began to search for a law firm in Seoul.

Chanyeol looked at his phone screen with anger. He did not want to admit defeat. He has been enjoying the misery he put on Chaeyoung these few weeks. He wanted to hurt her more.

When he knew that she was someone well-known in South Korea for her influencer personality, he had been torturing her with nasty comments and decided to ruin her reputation just to turn her into the loser he once knew. He just could not see her happy, call him a cruel ex-boyfriend or whatever, he just wanted her to fall again.

What happened yesterday was not how he expected to go. He was not going to let her see Haneul. He was determined that she would not be able to even if she tried to do it legally. He thought he was always ahead of her but he was wrong.

The message he got from the unknown number yesterday evening had caused him a major anger.

"How in the world she end up with a man like him?", Chanyeol stared sharply at the name on the message.

That evening, Jungkook and Chaeyoung went back to their hotel in silence. They have decided to go home tomorrow morning since Chaeyoung said that she needed to be in Seoul early to find a good lawyer. Jungkook, on the other hand, was holding in his anger with Chanyeol for taking his threat lightly.

When they arrived on the third floor of the hotel, Chaeyoung's phone rang in her hand. When she looked at the screen, her eyes widened a little.

"Who's calling?", Jungkook asked.

"Chanyeol.", she answered before showing the name on the screen to him. "Let me answer it first."

Jungkook nodded and stayed quiet as she spoke to Chanyeol. He looked at his watch and sighed in relief quietly.
