After everything that had happened in Shanghai, Chaeyoung was finally back in Seoul with her daughter and Jungkook. The moment they touched down at the familiar air of the city, Chaeyoung was smiling so bright and her happiness was obviously seen to Jungkook. Their mission in China was difficult but it ended with the best possible outcome; Haneul, Chaeyoung's daughter, was now back with her.
For Jungkook, nothing mattered more than seeing her smile return. And for Chaeyoung, nothing meant more than raising her daughter close, where she belonged.
The next morning in Seoul was bright and cool, promising a beautiful new beginning in Chaeyoung's life. In her bedroom, she stood in front of the mirror with her daughter, fixing her hair and clothes for the last time before they headed out for the new day. Chaeyoung was on an important mission for her duaghter; visiting a few schools to begin the process of Haneul's enrollment.
Once they were both ready, Chaeyoung held her daughter's left hand to the door of their apartment. As they stepped out into the hallway, the door next to hers opened almost at the same time. She turned to look and see Jungkook stepping out of his apartment, dressed in a sleek black suit that seemed very different than his usual attire. A silky black tie, polished black shoes and slick back hairstyle that she had never seen on him. Chaeyoung stared in awe at his calm yet charming appearance.
"Oh, hey, Chaeyoung..", he greeted casually before looking to Haneul and waved his hand at her.
The young girl waved back at him but Chaeyoung did not respond to him. He looked back at Chaeyoung and saw how she was staring quietly at him. A smile crept upon his face, he found it amusing to see her eyes scan him without a blink.
"Chaeyoung?", he called her name a bit louder this time.
"Oh, um- sorry.", she stuttered, blinking fast. "Good morning, Jungkook. You...look amazing. I mean- different. In a good way.", she cleared her throat, slightly shaking her head for the words slipped her mouth.
Jungkook just chuckled, "Thank you. I actually have a meeting with my mum and- um, just a meeting with my mum. Family business matters."
"Oh, right. That's why you're dressed differently than usual.", she replied, still trying to find the right words to say to him.
He nodded before looking at the folder in her hand, "What about you? Going somewhere?"
Chaeyoung nodded back, "Yeah, I'm sorting out Haneul's school stuff today. Trying to get her enrolled as soon as possible so she doesn't miss out on her studies."
"Oh..I'm sorry I couldn't help you-"
Chaeyoung quickly shook her head, "Oh, no. It's okay. I can handle it myself, Jungkook. You've done enough for me and Haneul. Right, Haneul?"
She patted her daughter's head softly, trying to get Haneul involved in the conversation so that she could be distracted from staring at the man in front of her.
"Uncle, look at my hair. It's pretty, isn't it?", Haneul asked as she made a turn to show her braided hair to Jungkook.
He smiled before nodding, "That's very pretty. Who did your hair, Haneul? Is it your mommy?"
"Yes, mommy did my hair.", Haneul smiled happily before taking Chaeyoung's hand.
"You're a talented mom.", Jungkook complimented casually.
"Oh, no. Please, it's nothing..", Chaeyoung got a bit shy with it.
"Uncle, can you come with us?", Haneul took Jungkook's hand, startling Chaeyoung with her question to Jungkook.
"Haneul, no-"
"It's okay. I can come with you to the parking lot.", Jungkook answered as he nodded to Chaeyoung, assuring her that it was fine since they were both going to the same parking floor anyway.
