Lisa sat at the dining table, quietly observing Chaeyoung, who was sitting across her. At the same time, Chaeyoung was watching over Haneul as she was giggling in the living room, tossing a soft toy for Hank, who barked playfully and wagged his tail.
The morning light streamed through the windows, but despite the warm, peaceful setting, Lisa could not shake the feeling that something was off. Chaeyoung fiddled with the handle of her cup, her smile not quite reaching her eyes. Lisa kept staring at her until she finally noticed and gave a sheepish laugh.
"Why are you looking at me like that?", Chaeyoung asked, trying to sound casual.
Lisa set her mug down, leaning in slightly.
"Are you okay?", she asked seriously. "You’ve been acting weird since last night. You stuttered so much when Haneul called you to say goodnight. And this morning, you insisted I drop her off at a very specific time and your actions seemed like you're nervous or something."
Chaeyoung gave a quick, almost defensive laugh. "I'm fine, really.", she said, waving a hand as if to dismiss it.
But, Lisa was not buying it. She knew Chaeyoung too well. There was something written all over her face — a mixture of excitement, fear, and something else Lisa could not place.
"Chaeng..", Lisa pressed gently but firmly, "talk to me."
The blonde haired woman sighed, her shoulders slumping in defeat. She placed her hands flat on the table and stared at them for a moment before speaking.
"Last night..", she began slowly, "Jungkook...he said he loves me."
Lisa's face lit up immediately. "Whoa! Then, what happened? Did you two kiss?", she asked in excitement but volumed down, not wanting Haneul to hear them.
"No!", Chaeyoung quickly responded, however her eyes gave away a sign that she was dishonest about it. "Okay, almost.", she had to tell the truth, Lisa was staring at her like a hawk.
Lisa chuckled to her. But, then she caught the hesitant, almost troubled look in Chaeyoung's eyes. Her smile faded. "Chaeyoung, I know you're sad you didn't kiss him but what is this gloomy face you're showing me? Help me understand, please."
Chaeyoung bit her lip, clearly hesitating. She looked torn, like she wanted to tell Lisa everything but was afraid to say it out loud.
"Chaeyoung...what really happened last night? You met him, he confessed to you, you almost kissed and then, what? Hm??", Lisa asked eagerly.
Chaeyoung took a deep breath, as if gathering the courage to continue.
"He didn’t just confess," she said, her voice low. "He... he also told me the truth about who he really is."
Lisa frowned slightly, intrigued, "What do you mean?"
Chaeyoung told her what Jungkook said before he confessed his feelings towards her. She told her from the beginning of how he had a stepfather until he became a vice president of Daehan Group at the end.
"Shut. Up. Daehan Group?"
Chaeyoung nodded, "Yeah..and there's more. He admitted that he used his power to threaten Chanyeol.."
Lisa’s mouth hung open in shock for a second before she shook her head in amazement. "Wow... I mean, it’s crazy, but... also kind of heroic?"
Chaeyoung gave a small, conflicted smile. "That’s when he confessed... right after telling me everything."
Lisa leaned forward eagerly. "Okay, but... why didn’t you two kiss? I mean, wasn’t that THE moment?"
Chaeyoung groaned and covered her face with her hands, "I was about to! But then you called. I panicked and grabbed my phone... and just... ran into my room."
