THE NEXT DAY?

Y/N's eyes fluttered open, greeted by the soft weight pressing down on his chest. Looking down, he saw Alistair curled up in a small ball, fast asleep, his tiny breaths rising and falling rhythmically. A soft smile spread across Y/N's face as he gently shook the creature awake.

"Good morning, Alistair," he said warmly.

Alistair stretched, letting out a little yawn before blinking up at Y/N. He chirped happily, then snuggled against Y/N's chest for a moment longer before hopping off to the bed beside him. Y/N chuckled, shaking his head as he swung his legs over the side of the bed, stretching his arms overhead. The stiffness of the night eased with each movement.

After pulling on his clothes and boots, Y/N scooped Alistair up into his arms. "Alright, let's go see what everyone's up to," he said, heading for the door. Alistair made a soft coo of approval as they stepped out of the room.

The lobby was quiet, the morning light streaming in through the dusty windows. Only Jenny and Doul were awake, lounging on the worn couches near the center of the room. Doul leaned back casually, while Jenny was sprawled across the other couch, her tail twitching lazily.

"Morning, Y/N," Doul greeted with a grin.

"Morning, Doul," Y/N replied, placing Alistair down to wander around. He reached over to give Jenny a gentle pat, earning a contented purr from her. "How'd you sleep?" he asked, settling onto the couch across from them.

"Pretty well, actually," Doul said. "Those beds are way more comfortable than they look." He paused, a sly smirk creeping onto his face. "Although... I couldn't help but hear a bunch of noise coming from the room next door. Any idea who that was?"

Y/N froze for a moment, the tips of his ears burning as he chuckled nervously. "Yeah... uh... I wonder who that could've been," he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "B-but, you know, we've got bigger things to worry about. Like staying on guard after what happened."

Doul's teasing smirk faded as Y/N's tone shifted. The smile on his face was replaced by a more serious expression as he leaned forward slightly. "Speaking of those things..." Y/N's voice dropped, his gaze locking onto Doul. "They were looking for you, weren't they? Why?"

At the question, Doul stiffened. Beads of sweat formed on his brow as he avoided Y/N's gaze. His usual confident demeanour faltered. "I-I-I..." he stammered, the words caught in his throat.

Y/N narrowed his eyes, concern and curiosity mingling in his expression. "Doul?" he pressed gently.

Before Doul answered, though, the others then walked into the room.

"Hey guys!" Rachel called out, her voice bright and cheerful as she entered the lobby. "How was your night?"

Cameron stepped in behind her, his expression relaxed. "Pretty good. The beds were surprisingly comfortable."

"I know, right?" Rachel replied with a grin. "Although... I kept hearing these weird noises coming from a different room—"

"AHEM!" Y/N interrupted with an exaggerated throat-clearing, his face faintly tinged with embarrassment. "I'm sure everyone had a great night's sleep, but don't you think it's time for us to leave?"

The crew exchanged glances, nodding in agreement. Without wasting another moment, they packed up their belongings and headed out of the hotel. The morning air felt cool and crisp, but the tranquility didn't last long.
