Chapter 4- captured
As I looked at the mirror- hanging on the beige wall right beside the front door- staring at the older version of myself. Even though I can see the years starting to begin to eat away from my youth it’s still hard to believe that it’s been that long. I reach up and lightly touch my fingertips to my right high cheek bone. But what I can’t get over is that I still have my natural beauty now just set with wised chocolate brown eyes and laugh lines.
I smile to myself as I dropped my hand back to my side, thinking about the one thing I never wanted to happen to me- getting older. My thirty-fifth birthday was next week, means another year older.
For some reason how it used to bother me so much about gaining another year to my human life doesn’t upset me anymore. I’m actually happy with getting older because the one by my side is growing older with me along the way.
“What are you doing?” asked the thick husky voice behind me.
Just the sound of his voice made me melt, my knees become suddenly weak that I would need his strong arms to help hold me up, and my skin tingle for his warm touch. I could feel my heart start to race away at the memories that we have shared together and still craved for more.
As I glanced in the mirror, focusing on the background, I saw him leaning against one of the walls with his arms crossed casually. He was smiling his perfect crooked grin that I love as usual- my perfect sun.
Even though we now live in Billy’s and Jacob’s childhood house, Billy moved in with Charlie to keep him company- giving me and Jacob this house as our very own, it feels like the past all over again when I would come to visit Jacob after Edward left. But the heartbreaking that took place before inside of me was not there, instead I could not be any happier and contented than I am right now.
“Oh nothing,” I replied as I continued to keep his glaze in the mirror.
“What were you thinking about?”
“When?” I asked unsure.
“Before?”
“Oh,” I slightly laughed as I looked back at my own figure. “I was thinking about that in the past I never wanted to get older, never wanted to see myself become that and now it doesn’t matter anymore.”
“And why is that?” he asked now standing right behind me.
I turned around looking straight up at his tall large figure, smiling up at him, stretching on the tips of my toes to take his beautiful face in my tiny hands. I felt Jacob’s hands as he placed them on either side of my hips to help balance me.
“Because all I need is right here beside me, growing older with me. Why would I want to change that?”
Just as Jacob was about to reply the front door open to the left of us and it revealed our daughter Vanessa. We turned towards her direction as the afternoon sun streaked in behind her figure.
She acts and looks just like Jacob when he was younger- the version that I met when I first moved back to Forks. However Jacob tells me otherwise that she’s just like me in every way possible.
“Hey Dad, Mom wanna go for a walk down to First Beach?” asked Vanessa. “Before it gets dark?”
“Yeah what do you say Bella?” Jacob questioned as he glanced down at me.
“Sounds fine with me, what could go wrong with a simple walk?” I replied as we walked out of the house and headed towards the woods…
“Vanessa will you slow down a little,” I called as Jacob and I entered the open field holding each other’s hands with Vanessa standing in the center looking up at the sun overhead. She was slowly spinning in a circle motion with her arms out beside her, soaking up the rich warm sunrays.
