Chapter 12- answers

“Well I’m glad to see that our guests are fully awake,” said Aro sitting in his chair, his hands clamps together in his lap, as he stared straight at Edward.

Felix released his hold of Jacob and sat him down on the floor beside Edward. I could see that either Felix or Jane had used their strength or power- depending on which one it was- on the werewolf as he was starting to regain his psychical strength back. Jane continued forward to stand beside Alec near the feet of Caius’ chair. Felix shrank back into the background to take his usual spot, guarding the massive double doors with his huge tall figure. Demetri still stood in line with those who’s life was about to end, holding the chain to my daughter’s throat loosely as she leaded around Edward on her hands and knees checking on Jacob.

This had been the first time since I have seen Vanessa after I had woken up. She looked terrible with her torn clothes- splattered with mud and her own blood- as they hung loosely on her small body. Her long brown hair-same color and wavy texture as mine- covered in dust and dried dirt. The very light natural tan skin of her face was lightly dusted in filth.

But here was my daughter alive and breathing, when I thought the Volturi had killed her that day in the field. That was the main purpose why I wanted to be the new leader of the vampire law was because Aro had sent for Caius to locate me and change me.

Aro also told me that Nessie was dead to get me to stay, saying that it had been Edward and Jacob’s fault that she died. He told me the one thing in order for me to become calm just for the tiniest second so that he could let Clarissa use her power on me- changing my thoughts and ideas in the ways of the Volturi- as I was totally surprised by the awful news.

But here she is, looking barely alive, but anything has to be better than death.

Just as I was about to run towards her and tell her everything was going to be all right by getting out of this horrible place. Aro began to talk interrupting my train of thought. I felt another power hit my mind, replacing the warm and conforming thoughts forcing back the harsh and evil blood thirsty power.

“So what do we owe the pleasure of your visit Edward?” he asked looking straight at him, eyes unblinking from his figure.

“We wanted to see how Bella was doing,” he lied perfectly glancing over at me. I met his gaze and I smirked at the vampire, knowing the real reason why Edward and Jacob were in Volterra. But instead of mentioning it I decided to play along and force it out of him.

“Oh? You like how immortality looks on her?” Aro turned to the left in his seat looking at me, where I was still right beside him. I blinked my focused gaze from Edward and smiled down at Aro. “Yes I would say that young Bella here has turned out quite well, if I do say so myself,” he turned back facing the others again.

“Her power is astonishing and unbelievable. I’m just glad that she agreed to stay and join us,” he added sounding like a proud father.

Only if he knew what I had planned for him, he defiantly would not be acting like a delighted parent. He would actually be appalled and want nothing more to do with me- shunning away from my being like I had the black plague.

“Yes I knew that she would make an excellent vampire,” replied Edward. I was totally surprised by his comment. He had never wanted me to become a vampire more or less this and now he was admitting it.

Oh now I see, he’s trying to stay on Aro’s good side by agreeing with anything Aro says because he’s waiting on something, but what could that be?

My thoughts of trying to figure this out were cut short as Jacob stood up along with my daughter with Edward still standing in between them.

“If you knew that young Cullen, why didn’t you change her yourself?” questioned Aro. “I mean the last time you two were here pleading us to kill you because you thought that your love was dead herself.”
