Chapter 7- planning
I wiped my lips off slowly with my cloak’s sleeve, as I let the blood-drained body of the boy fall to the ground carelessly.
I hummed to myself feeling a little of the fire in my throat cool but not completely gone, it was still hungry and craved for the rich scarlet blood that seemed to be pulsing all around me.
I glanced down at the boy’s body, the one that I just killed, and I didn’t feel anything. In my past human life I would have cared about this person, even though I didn’t know him, because I was afraid that when I ever did become a vampire I wanted to make sure that I still treated humans as if I was still one- I didn’t want to become a monster and kill people.
But now my thoughts have changed.
I could care less about the human race; all that they provide for me is something that will calm down the thirst. The Volturi have taught me something that the Cullens would never wanted- power and you have to rise above everyone and everything else in order to achieve it. Even if that means taking a human life to become strong to take your spot as ruler over the whole thing then so be it.
Just as I was turning around to go locate another victim to satisfy the fire there stood two figures blocking my path. And I already knew who they were; they were watching me kill the human from the shadows not saying a word until I was going to leave.
“Way to use your female charm to get that animal down here to attack,” approved the taller one on the right who had his arms crossed causally as usual. “I never thought of that approach before.”
“When you’re a girl you have only have one method to use and that is flirtation,” I replied with a smirk and gave a little wink towards the giant vampire.
“True very true,” Felix said with a smile nodding his head.
Just as I was about to take a step in between them to make my way back under the clock tower and claim my next victim the other vampire stepped to the side.
“Demetri what are you doing?” I asked looking straight at him like he had lost his mind.
“What are you doing?” he questioned back.
I could see tension lines in between his eyes like he was confused as he stared back at me with a suspicion gaze. At times what I wouldn’t give to be like that other Cullen and could read vampire’s minds so I could find out Demetri’s true and hidden thoughts.
What was I thinking? I love my power, it’s unique no other vampire as it. Why on earth would I want to trade for something as basic as mind reading? My gift is better than anything because I can now block out other vampires’ powers from the technique that Aro taught me.
“To go feed, that’s what us vampires do,” I said sounding like I was explaining the answer to a dumb person who just didn’t see the answer even though it was as plain as the nose on their face.
“But you’ve already fed today, we can’t draw too much attention to us,” he answered back using the same tone I had used, which always infuriated me but I kept my cool however I didn’t know how long that was going to last with me putting off my hunger.
“When did a Volturi member become so caring?” I asked sounding like I didn’t believe it myself because what I’ve been through the last couple of days I didn’t believe that they- we I mean- have that human emotion that all those animals feel.
“Oh he’s been that way for centuries now, could say that it is his weakness,” said Felix coolly, but he didn’t know what he just said, how informative one piece of information was.
“Oh really now?” I cooed, my mind clicking like the gears in a clock.
My thoughts raced in all different directions all of them pointing to the one main concept- power.
How can I make sure that I end up on top? Whose weaknesses that I need to know to make sure my dream comes true in the end? And how do I use them in order to make sure they are defeated.
“Bella what are you thinking?” questioned Demetri hesitantly seeing my facial expression change into realization and knowing. He even took a step backwards to get away from my new look, but was too afraid to move.
So I answered saying the one thing that would make him move.
“Oh, nothing really…..you’re downfall for instance,” I replied calmly like it was something that was all that easy stepping forward, knowing that Demetri would be stunned by my answer and moved out from blocking my path.
I glanced towards Demetri as he wore the total surprised expression as if I had slapped him- his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open like he couldn’t believe my honest and truthful reply. I turned back to face forward staring straight at the bright light of the afternoon sun shining down under the clock tower.
As I was heading up the alley, I called towards Felix without turning my gaze away from the light just ahead.
“Would you care to join me Felix?” I asked in alluring voice, knowing that it would bring him in on plan.
“Of course it would be an honor,” he replied as he raced to my side.
Two down. I thought as I have already taking Jane and now Demetri out of the way of my plan of the short distance future.
We marched forward to the entrance leaving Demetri alone in the darkness staring after us…
