- I didn't want to wake up, I was rather having a better time asleep-
Melanie's POV
- week later
I woke up to the buzz of my phone on my wooden dresser. A couple more days. Have you ever just woke up, sad. That may sound a little- dumb. But it's a day where you want to stay in bed forever counting the cracks in the ceiling, or how many times your chest rises then falls until you lose your train of thought.
I squinted my eyes at the outfit that was laid on my dresser. I unsurely picked up the black v neck along with high waisted black shorts. I tossed the shorts to the side and slid on some comfortable skinny jeans. Im not like every other girls wearing high waisted shorts, they weren't very comfortable.
I sat on the chair brushing through my knotted hair when my phone rang.
"Hello?" I answered an incoming call from contact "Dad💟".
"Lana" I heard the familiar voice I've been waiting to hear.
"Dad" I smiled
"I'm home, I hope you're having a fun time down there"
"Can I come back, please. You know exactly why-" I paused to let him talk.
"Let me talk to your aunt" I jogged downstairs and handed my phone anxiously to my aunt who were eating pancakes.
"Hello?" She cleared the pancake from her mouth. Within a couple minutes she hung up.
"Go pack" she rolled her eyes.
"Yes" I whispered to myself. I grabbed my home and ran back upstairs to pack.
--skipping the flight.
There was only one excuse to make my dad change my aunts mind on keeping me longer. My mother and my sister. This week is my moms upcoming birthday. My dad has a tradition we visit her grave then go out to eat and that's exactly what we were going to do. Even if that means I can't meet Shawn today. I open my door to see my dad sitting on the couch with his arm in a cast. My nose stung, and tears formed in my eyes.
"Dad" I cooed, he met me halfway with a strong hug.
"You scared me" I whispered into his shoulder.
"I'm not going to drink like that ever again I promise" we released from the hug.
"I have to go to work in a couple hours Jerry has been working on his own for too long, if he works longer I'll have to pay him extra. I don't have the money for that"
"Dad. You're not going to work with your arm like that. I'll cover for you" I suggested
"You haven't been to college for mechanic engineering"
"Neither have you! And Jerry with be with me if I need help. Right he's only off of the weekends" I played with my fingernails
"You sure?" He asked
"I'm 100% sure dad. But you know where we have to go now"
"Let's go" he said. I dropped my suitcase on the floor and re grabbed my keys and went into the car with my dad in the passenger seat. 20 minutes later I arrived at a graveyard. I plucked a blue pansy from the ground and walked to my moms grave. I knelt on my knees before touching the stone engraving.

I remember the way she was softly brush my hair in the mornings before school day, or how she would take me out to a restaurant when I felt sad. Food always made me happy XD. I could remember the way she would look into dads eyes with a bright shine of love.
