+++Chapter 28+++

"Zaylie, don't you think this is too sudden?" Calice asked, his grip on the steering wheel tightening; he spoke through clenched teeth and it seemed as if his canines grew. I sighed and looked out the window. London was pretty spectacular, with it's very intimidating and beautiful buildings.

"It is a little too sudden, but I can't be selfish and not accept then watch many innocent people die. Honestly, I'm not ready but I know it's the right choice." I responded with clear determination. Calice sighed and his gaze met mine for second before flicking back onto the road. His expression made me want to cry; it was one of desperation and it looked just like the puppy Spiffy I always knew and loved. Sometimes it sucks to be an animal lover; I'm too sensitive to anything related to animals.

"Would it be so selfish if I told you not to promise yourself to him because I love you?" Calice asked sadly; I gulped and continued to look out the window, my heart beat radically.

"Lo-love?" I asked hesitantly.

"Yes. Love. Zaylie I love you more than I should." He responded confidently and my heart clenched; Why? I love Calice, but as a brother. I may not love Vixen, but I know if I were to spend more time with him I would eventually love him. Not forced love but real love. I gagged; I sound like a freakin' romance freak. I turned to Calice with sad eyes and he swallowed loudly." I know you don't love me that way but I just had to tell you."

"Im sorry-" I started.

"Dont be. Zaylie I'll be happy if you are. I just don't want you doing something because you feel you have to." He smiled sadly at me.

"I want to do this Calice and I know this might not help but I really do love you. I mean I love dogs, I love Spiffy, and I love you. Wow, that was crap...Um how about I'll always be there for you..." I asked with a sheepish smile, I was not good at all in comforting people. His lips quirked up before he bursts out laughing and I laugh with him; maybe being an idiot is a good thing.

"Good. Because you owe for all those years of being your guard dog, pillow and companion." He teased with a smirk. I laughed.

"Alright Spiffy." I smirked as he glared playfully at me. The rest of the ride was tense free; it was actually very uplifting as we teased eachother and talked normally as if we were the best of friends. By the time, Calice stopped the car in front of a daunting mansion my nerves were relaxed and I was determined to do the ceremony. However, drinking Vixen's blood still did not sound appetizing; I silently made a note to myself to think of his blood as kool-aid.

"Ready?" Calice asked as we walked toward the deep brown mansion; it was frazzled looking and seemed more like a haunted house. I loved it! Maybe I'll meet Casper.

"Yep." I replied with a confident smile.

"Good." Calice said before steering me further toward the mansion. The wooden steps creaked under our

feet, I frowned as I saw a spider hanging from it's web right above me head. I burst a liitke flame from my finger and effectively burned the damn ugly thing. Calice pulled my hand away before giving me a disaproving loook.

"Dont play with fire!" He scolded, I smirked.

"I wasn't .I simply killed a spider." I replied innocently.
