***Chapter 31***

*Zaylies Pov***

I watched almost emotionessly as they burned to a crisp. My once red fire was as blue as the ocean itself; it was to it's highest degree. Nobody, but me would survive it.

I saw as the rebels were eaten by the flames, they're bodies almost instantly turning to ash. I myself was on fire, yet I felt like I was cold. Of course, all my heat was gone.

"Zaylie! Zaylie!" I heard many voices scream from outside the building that was quickly crumbling. The wood giving away and ceasing onto the flaming floor. Nobody should be able to escape. My fire protected me from the wood by quickly burning each tumbling piece.

The screams were dreadful. It was as if children themselves were crying. I was killing. Killing many. They're body frames were quickly dispersed in the fire. My eyes began to flicker close and that's when I saw Sangre. His own body was on fire; but not by mine. He had lit himself with the witch power he had stolen. His hair blue as ever, his eyes as thirsty for blood as ever. He was completely fine to my utter dismay. He sent one last smirk before I fell; my sight quickly coating with darkness.

It was not the end. It was only the beginning.

Shit.

*Vixen's Pov*

"Zaylie!" I yelled until my throat hurt. My eyes widened in fear as the building came, every piece of the wooden structure became a pile of dirt.

"Zaylie!" I screamed again when i didnt see her. My worry freezing my blood and pumping my heart wildly. Men held me back from running toward the flames. I would instantly die; I knew it but Zaylie's health worried me more than my own.

My eyebrows furrowed as a red ball flame flew out of the building. Was it from Zaylie? I felt my rage rumble as I saw it was a smirking Sangre. The bastard got away! I hissed, my fangs extending.

"Vixen look!" Axton yelled pointing to where red hair poked out from under some dirt. The flames were slowly dying until they were just a few inches high. I went to run, but Calice held me back. I hissed ferociously.

"You'll burn still." He stated; he was covered in blood, his blonde hair looked brown from dirt, his canines were still extended and he only had pants on after the rest of his clothes tore apart during the shift.

I clenched my jaw, forcing my fangs to retreat. I nodded stiffly and watched as Calice ran to the dirt. He would burn a little but it would be nothing as bad as my burns and shifters heal quickly.

I held my breath as he dug under dirt and broken wood. I looked around me to see everybody just as worried. If Zaylie died this would be all over. There would be no union.

I let out my breath as Calice uncovered Zaylie's pale face. I stopped myself from running to her. He then unburied the rest of her body and I again held my breath as he lifted her limp, frail body into his arms. I just wanted her to be alive. It seemed she was as Calice smiled smally before running toward us.

I let out a breath as I looked down at her sleeping face. Thank Goddess as they would say. I smoothed her cheek with my thumb, gently wiping off dirt. I stretched out my arms for Calice to hand her to me. He smiled and placed her in my arms. I smiled and bent down to kiss her forehead. I was so glad she was fine.

"She's alive!" Calice told the remainder of the royal witches and vampires. They all roared with cheers. Each one of them were immensely amazed with Zaylie's powers. The blue flame us something only heard of. Never truly witnessed, until today.

Axton patted my back."She's okay brother." He said gently as if further assuring. I nodded a smile on my face.

"Lets give the injured assistance!" My father shouted to the crowd. Everybody began picking up the passed out and injured to take them to the hotel for medical treatment.

I saw Zaylie's parents get carried off; I was glad they would also be fine. They each just had bad burns. Sangre's flame is that one of the elder's which surpasses the King's and Queen's fire. It seemed Zaylie's temper made her fire extremely strong.

"She is very strong." My mother commented, looking down at Zaylie with admiration.

"She is." I replied proudly. Of course she is.

"It seems she just over exerted herself. Let's get her some treatment." My father suggested and I nodded. I watched as all the witches and vampires each left toward the hotel. I stayed back for awhile, alone.

Even though she was fine, she should never be put under such danger. She should never have to over exert herself. She should never have to protect me. I failed. Again. I clenched my teeth and fists in anger. A furious tear spiking down my face. Dammit.

"I'll get stronger. I'll protect you." I promised, before running back to the hotel with lighting speed.

When I got there, it seemed as if the whole place had been converted into a hospital. White beds were everywhere with patients in each. Earth witches, medical trained demons, vampires, faeries, pixies, and kelpies each attended to them.

"Over here." Calice told me, gesturing for me to follow him. He led me through hallways and the lobby until we reached an elevator. We went down into our floor and walked to our room.

I placed her carefully into the soft bed; she was in a deep sleep. Her body must be extremely tired.

"She's cold." Calice commented as he touched her forehead.

"Thats because she used her body heat for that blue flame. It is a difficult technique that only elder witches know how to do. Usually, it can be life threatining because all of a witched life can go into that flame. It is utterly astonishing that such a young witch was capable of this." An earth witch that was tending to Zaylie informed us.

"Wow." I whispered in amazement, Calice nodded in agreement.

"Lets get her warmth. It seems that is what she mostly needs along with some rest and water." The lady said, wrapping Zaylie in a cacoon of blankets. She then chanted a spell for quick revovery.

"She should be fine now." She saud before walking out. I will stay here until Zaylie wakes up.

I sighed and sat in the chair beside the bed, I looked down at my wounds. They were just a few scratches and slight burns, but they were already healing thanks to Zaylie's blood.

Calice leaned on the wall of the otherside of the room. He looked down at Zaylie silently. I know he loves her, but I won't hand Zaylie over to him. I just can't and won't.

When she woke up, we would need to finish the ceremony quickly. Sangre interrupted it because he knew both Zaylie and I would get stronger. Zaylie got stronger even without the ceremony. I'm sure even Sangre fears how powerful she will get with my blood.

He will do anything to seperate us. However, I will never let him do that.

I will get stronger and protect Zaylie.
