Chapter Nineteen

Trigger Warning: this chapter contains suicidal thoughts and graphic descriptions of self harm.

"Shhh, c'mon, dude." Cross whispered, slapping his skeletal hand across M/n's mouth to quiet him.

M/n tried wriggling away, eyes welling up with tears as he held in his laughter. It was almost midnight and the two of them were wide awake in the living room, goofing around. M/n was still wearing Cross' jacket.

"Get your hands off meee-" he whispered back, nipping at Cross' phalanges.

The skeleton looked at him with disgust before snorting. "That was nasty."

Cross grinned at M/n and flicked his forehead. M/n crawled closer to Cross and laughed, falling atop of him with a sleep-deprived giggle. Cross fell onto his back, his arms limp at his sides.

"dude-"

"shhsushhhh.... nap time now. Fucker."

"ow, that hurt!" M/n seethed, flinching away from Killer's hands.

"awe, sweetheart~ im not even being rough!" Killer teased, rubbing the gauze that covered the wound on the human's arm.

M/n grunted, turning his face away. "Shut up."

"I can feel your heart pounding. Ya like having my hands on you?~"

M/n shot Killer a glare out of the corner of his eyes. He went to say something, but the playful and flirty atmosphere dimmed into a more suffocating one.

Killer dug the tips of his fingers into M/n's arm.

"I should've killed you myself. Not waste my energy saving your pathetic ass from those monsters."

"Killer, youre hurting me." M/n's voice cracked. He tried to wiggle away from him.

There was a small white light in one of Killer's eyesockets. "I would've had so much fun if i had just left you there to die."

Killer was gone. M/n couldn't breathe. His chest ached and he could feel his SOUL hammering.

"I don't want you to be my friend."

"Papyrus?" M/n gaped, jumping back at the sudden crude tone of the usual upbeat and kind voice. "What?"

"You're a bad person. There's no point in you even trying." He said. "You can't change. No matter how hard you try. I don't believe in you."

"Papyrus, don't say that-"

"Your SOUL is the last one we need to break the barrier." Undyne called out. "You're puny enough that I could break your neck with my pinky."

M/n shrunk back into the sudden darkness. He couldn't tell if there were walls, but if there was, they were closing in on him.

"You stupid, idiot." The flower from when M/n fell down popped in. "They all turned against you. Just like I said they would. But you didn't listen.~ it's kill or be killed. I guess you chose the latter."

"Toriel!" A wave of relief washed over M/n. He ran to the kind goat woman that helped him and Frisk through the ruins. "I missed you- everyone is acting so-"

"I'm disappointed in you." Toriel's voice was cold. "I asked you to be good. Now look at you. The one thing your mother expected of you. You couldn't even do that."

This was all too much. Why was everyone being so mean to him? He wasn't that bad of a person that everyone he cared about hated his guts, right?
