TW: Mentions of self-harm, mental abuse
"Watch the cat, she may run," Annabelle warned as she unlocked the door to her flat and pushed it open, brown eyes moving down to make sure Jinx didn't try to dart out the door.
Cheeky little thing seemed to enjoy running outside, even though she was incredibly loved, had a warm house to stay in, and plenty of food. Honestly, she was surprised the cat hadn't gotten fat from all the treats she got. "You've got a cat?" Nathan asked, and the slight excitement in his voice made her smile.
She nodded vaguely, stepping into the flat and looking around a bit. Jinx didn't like new people, so she wouldn't be surprised if she didn't come out once she realized someone was inside. When Kate had first come over, she'd hidden for hours until she got hungry. Then she'd stuck around and begged both girls for attention until Kate left.
"She's somewhere... she likes to hide. Doesn't like new people." She explained, shutting the door behind Nathan as he walked inside. He snorted softly and shrugged off his jacket. "Oh, she's just like you then, eh?"
She swatted at him and rolled her eyes.
Annabelle set her keys down and hummed softly. Nathan was looking around her flat with curious eyes. She watched him for a few seconds before she forced her eyes away. Don't be weird, Annabelle. Nathan hummed. "You've got a nice place."
She glanced around herself. She did like her flat. It was messy, but nice. Blankets were strewn wildly on the worn leather sofa, pillows on either side. Her guitar was propped up in the corner of the room, underneath one of many posters she had hung up. Her work uniform was draped over the coffee table, which was full of miscellaneous items. A pack of cigarettes, magazines, a few guitar picks, posters for her past gigs...
Nathan spotted the cigarettes and grinned, snatching up the little box. "Oi, those are mine." She protested half-heartedly. He pulled one out and shrugged.
She couldn't be bothered to stop him, so she just let him. "At least open a window," She muttered with a wave of her hand as she tugged her boots off. "And give me one."
He nodded in response as he lit the cigarette. He pulled a window open, and the cool breeze rushed in, making her shiver. She tried not to stare at his hands while he smoked and walked into the kitchen instead. Focusing her attention on what she was going to make for dinner was a better focus than Nathan.
Her focus was broken when Nathan suddenly walked up behind her, a grin on his face. "Sooo... dinner, huh?" There was an obvious suggestive undertone in his voice, one that made her feel warm. She sighed. "Yes. What do you want to eat?"
"Oh. I dunno. What can you make?"
Annabelle rolled her eyes. "I told you. Anything."
Nathan scoffed and moved to lean against the counter. "Oh, really?" Annabelle arched a brow and nodded. "Mostly, yes..." She murmured and took a small breath. "I mostly make Korean food when I'm home."
"Oooh, yeah? You should make some of that. It'll be like I'm in another country."
She squinted at him a little. "That's not how that works." She inhaled and shook her head. Sometimes she had to remind herself that this was the idiot she fancied. The prick who said stupid things like that.
