The Beginning

Annabelle licked her teeth, smearing her lipstick over her lips in the mirror. The red matched her recently dyed hair. She'd finally gotten to dye it again, this time opting for a vibrant red. She thought it suited her well. It brought out her features a little more. She pulled her phone out from her bra, checking the time. 6:56. Right on time to leave. With a hum, she stuffed her phone back into her bra and grabbed her keys and bag from off the sink countertop.

She'd made plans to meet up with a few old schoolmates to spraypaint on a bowling alley. The manager had fired one of the girls for some bullshit reason, and it was reason enough for the group to want to vandalize the place. It made enough sense to Annabelle, and she'd figured she could join in, then she'd just run off to hide in the club nearby.

The other girls were gathered in the car park, leaning up against one of their cars and smoking. Andrea, the girl who had sent the text, seemed to notice her. She was a tall girl with messy blonde hair and big brown eyes that she'd used to get her way throughout secondary school. "Hey, Anna!" She called, her voice a little slurred. Annabelle waved a hand.

"Hi," She greeted cautiously. Andrea grinned lazily, holding her cigarette out. She took a drag before handing it back and blowing the smoke out. "I brought the paint."

Andrea let out an excited squeal, stomping out her cigarette and leaning over to wrap her arms around the other woman. "Oh, God, thank you so much. You're a lifesaver, Anne. I owe you one, mate." She slurred. Annabelle pursed her lips a little, awkwardly lifting a hand to pat the blonde on the shoulder. The taller woman smelled like beer, and she was practically breathing it into Annabelle's face. She just gave a small nod. "You're all right."

She glanced towards the other girls there. There was Gia, a brunette with bright blue eyes, who looked equally as drunk as Andrea. Next to her was Sarah, a woman with black curly hair and brown eyes, and lastly there was Millie, who had red hair and green eyes.

Annabelle cleared her throat, gesturing to the building, which she assumed was the bowling alley. "This it?" She questioned, and Andrea nodded. "Mmm-hmm. My boss was such a prick. He's got it coming." She shrugged nonchalantly.

The shorter of the two nodded. "Let's go then, yeah?" She raised her brows, jerking her head in the direction of the wall.

The blonde nodded, grinning brightly as she grabbed onto Annabelle's arm and dragged her off to where she wanted to paint. Annabelle let her bag fall off her shoulders and onto the ground in front of them. She crouched down, unzipping it and pulling out a can of pink spraypaint. "Take whatever." She murmured, gesturing to the bag and stepping back.

The girls made a scramble for the bag, all clambering for different colors of paint. It didn't take long for them to get started, the little rattle of the cans followed by the spraying sound filled the small area they were in, along with a few giggles and whispers.

Annabelle kept to herself. She'd only really agreed to come out because she wanted to get rid of all the damn spraypaint, and it gave her something to do. She didn't know these girls well, and she didn't care to. She was only here for the entertainment.

"Belle!" Her head turned at the sound of someone saying her name, her nose wrinkling a little. She didn't recognize the voice, and it sounded like it belonged to a man. She looked around a little before spotting who it was.

He looked vaguely familiar and was crouched behind some cars, making her brows furrow. "Do I know you?" She questioned, slowly lowering her paint can. He stared at her for a moment, opening and closing his mouth like an idiot. Then he huffed softly. "No. Thought you were someone else." He waved a hand.

She stared blankly at him for a few moments before shaking her head and turning back to the art she'd been doing. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't exactly awful either. Not like what she could see Andrea doing. Maybe it was because she was drunk, or maybe she just wasn't the best artist. Whatever it was, her graffiti looked rather awful.

For a bit, it was peaceful. Until a sudden, "Oi!" got the group's attention. Annabelle whipped around, cursing under her breath as she spotted a cop stepping out of a police car. She tossed the can she was holding into her bag, barely taking a second to zip it up before she'd picked it up and started running through the car park. She heard the officer shouting something along with footsteps behind her, but she didn't look back.

Her eyes darted around for a spot to duck off into, or a way to get out, but the damn car park was so small and they were on a specific level, essentially making it impossible to escape. "Fuck," She hissed, darting between a few cars in an attempt to lose him.

"You're makin' this worse for yourself," She heard him call after her.

She would've rolled her eyes in any other circumstance. As she moved between the cars, she suddenly found herself at a standstill between a few that had parked too close together for her to squeeze through. She inhaled through her teeth, kicking at the pillar that blocked her other path.

Annabelle sighed deeply as the cop walked over to her, shaking his head as if he were disappointed. She put her hands up, huffing quietly to catch her breath. He pat her down and took the bag before putting her in handcuffs and hauling her off back to the car.

He glanced at the wall she'd painted on, the brick now covered in messy paintings and a few random spots of color. "That shit you did," He jerked his head towards the wall. "You do that everywhere?"

She stayed silent instead just rolling her eyes. He sighed. After prying the door open, he maneuvered her into the car.

"Y'know, you could do somethin' better with that." He stated. She could feel his eyes on her, but she just ignored him, and looked forward at the seat in front of her. "You've got some talent. Could put that into some work."

At her continued silence, he let out a deep sigh and shut the door.
