The pub that Ecstasy was performing at wasn't too far. It was a nice little place, for what it was, with a good sound system and a big stage for them to use. Kate had set up her drumset on the far left of the stage, Felicity with her keyboard on the other end, and Annabelle and Tilly in the front.
"You think anyone's gonna pay attention to us?" Tilly questioned anxiously, shifting around on her feet. She used one hand to hold her bass up, the other fidgeting awkwardly with the pick between her fingers.
Kate shrugged. "Maybe. I like to think we sound good enough to listen to." She shot the taller girl a grin, though it only got her a small hum in response. Tilly had always been anxious, ever since they'd first met her. It was a miracle they'd ever gotten the damn girl to start talking to them in school, she was so quiet. Music was her vice, it seemed. Her anxieties always went away once they started playing.
Annabelle checked the time. "Oi. We're almost on." She jerked her head in the direction of the stage. She heard Tilly squeak before the four girls filed onto the stage. The harsh fluorescent lights made Annabelle squint. She couldn't help but eye the crowd of people in the pub, looking for a specific head of curly hair.
But there were too many people and the lighting made it hard to see anyone who wasn't close to the stage. She let out a small sigh. She'd look for him later. If he'd even shown up. She wasn't sure if he had, but a part of her, deep down inside, hoped he did.
She glanced behind her, brown eyes landing on Kate as she settled behind her drums, then on Felicity who was cracking her knuckles. The ginger caught her eye and smirked. She smiled back before turning forward again. Tilly was at her side, surveying the people out in the pub, probably trying to see how many people were paying attention to the new band that had just come out onto the stage.
"Relax," She whispered to the young woman, offering a small smile before she grabbed the microphone in front of her.
.......
The gig went rather well, with minimal mistakes that no one but the band themselves seemed to notice. They played a few Paramore songs, like they usually did, then snuck in one of their own that they'd been working on for a while. After they'd packed up all their instruments, they separated into the pub.
Annabelle went straight to the bar, flagging down the bartender and ordering herself a drink. She looked back around at the crowd. Kate had immediately rushed to the closest hot bloke she could find, some tall blonde with a scruffy face. She pursed her lips a little and shook her head in amusement. Fucking Kate.
She couldn't see Felicity or Tilly, so she assumed they'd run off to dance. She took her drink once the bartender returned, thanking him under her breath. She took a sip, once again trying to spot Nathan through the crowd.
"Hey! Annie!" An all too familiar voice made her head snap over, and the exact curly headed man she'd been looking for walked over with a big grin.
"Nathan!" She called, her lips pulling up into a grin. She set her drink down on the bar beside her, wrapping her arms around his neck once he reached her. "I didn't think ya were here." She felt his arms wrap around her waist, like they had earlier. The warmth of his palms seeped in through the thin material of her shirt.
Nathan snorted a little, pulling away from her, though one of his hands lingered on her waist. "And go out on a date with weird kid? Nooo thank you." He waved his free hand. Then he looked off to the side and gestured to the stage. "I didn't know ya could sing like that."
She followed his hand. "Well, you've never seen me play before," She simply shrugged. He hummed and signaled the bartender over. Annabelle grabbed her drink and took a sip. The liquid made her mouth feel tingly and she felt oddly aware of how close they were. "You liked it then?" She questioned, stepping away from his hand to try and get rid of the butterflies that had sprouted up in her stomach. She was starting to hate that feeling.
