I know, I know..I know I shouldn't have cussed in front of Foster and I should have apologized, but my stepass is a pain in mine. I wanna go to Utah and visit but no I'm stuck here..anyways, what was that Wade said? Little did Wade know but the button is down on his two way radio and it's connected to the car..so I was unintentionally eavesdropping but it's not my fault that Wade is a fucking idiot. Dumbass.
The crows are flying into the barn? Many will fly into the barn and they will be counted?
What does that mean? What crows? Why are they being counted and going to a barn? What barn?? I can bring this back to Derrick and Faith but it's tonight so we gotta work fast...Wait what!? Foster just said they need me alive! Who's they?? Does Wade wanna kill me? Act Natural, Act Natural Carter! At least I'm pretty safe, and so glad to know he can't. I need to talk to my dad..he's a P.I. surely this is worth investigating! Alright now I defiantly gotta get back. I text Derrick and Faith to meet me at the park asap and I'll get try to get away from Wade.
He gets back in the car and he's furious at me of course, he just said he wishes he could kill me. "Carter! Why must you insist on being an insufferable brat!?" There it is, well at least I'm safe and he possibly can't do anything but I won't provoke him. "Why do you insist on trying to get along with me when I know you don't like me?" He buckles his seat belt and then starts the car not answering me. "Where are we going?" I ask as I also buckle and look over then out at the window and then in a soft, stern voice he just looks at the road and says, "Home."
Internally, I'm relived but I just look out the window still and reply, "Alright Cool." Not arguing as that's exactly what I want and I don't know if it has to do with what Foster said but I'm not gonna question it as we head back. After a full car ride of awkwardness and tension you can cut with a knife, we safely get back and then I greet my mom and say I love her and then that I'm going to hang out with Derrick.
I grab my bike and start riding to the park and when I get there Faith is already there. "Oh, hey Faith.." I give a polite smile, "Well just wait for Derrick and then can begin." She looks at me as she nods, "Sounds swell! Are you okay? Your text sounded urgent.." I look at her curious, "How did you think that?" She gets out her phone and goes to the text group chat that I created by sending it to both of them, "Faith! Derrick! Meet me at the park ASAP! I'm gonna a get away from Wade." She reads back to me with emphasis of urgency with the exclamations.
"Okay, I see how you got that now, but yes it is urgent cause I can't say too much but I think something is going down tonight.." She grabs my hand and leads me to a bench nearby. "Tell me." She basically commands, and I'm taken back a bit, "But what about Derrick? Shouldn't we wait?" She looks me dead in the eyes and it's kinda scaring me. "No, if it's urgent and it might be tonight that doesn't give us time to wait. Tell me and we'll fill Derrick in."
After tell her everything about what I heard she looks at me with concern now, "Okay so that's obviously a code and code's need to be decrypted, so we better start now." They get to work on the code as they are Derrick also comes to the park and he gets filled in as the three are now working together and trying to figure out what the code means before tonight. "Alright so from what we can deduce..the event is in a barn and the closet barn is Old Man Farris'."
Faith says and continues, "But if this is a gathering that is secret and only those who are in the know, know of it then it makes me think that theirs another barn that's less known cause Old Man Farris' is too in plain sight making it too obvious?" Derrick nods but Carter softly shakes his head. "But what if they want you to think it'll be the barn less known and farther away so that you're not looking at the obvious that they actually are meeting there? Haven't you ever seen Superman?"
Faith looks confused at Carter, "No. Superhero movies are dumb." Carter gasps and backs up. "Excuse me!? That's it I can't work with her!" Carter turns around and starts to leave. "Car! Carter! Get back here! Also rude Faith! Very rude!" Derrick says as he walks over to reel Carter back in, "Just explain it to her ya?" Carter sighs begrudgingly, "Fine only cause we're low on time but you miss are hurting a lot of people and on behave of them, I'm not letting this go! We will talk about this later. Anyways, Superman is the secret identity of Clark Kent."
"Clark Kent works at The Daily Plant as a reporter and no one knows it's him cause we wears glasses but more important the idea that Superman is right there is too hard to believe so he can hide in plain sight so like Superman what if the barn is so in plain sight that no one will think that it's actually that one and they are expecting the whole 'It has to be the one farther away' conclusion." Derrick looks at Carter then Faith, "He might be onto something..So we go to the Barn tonight then?"
The three of the head to the Old Man Farris' Barn in hopes that they are right and hope to not miss the meeting.
