120. Race against Time

I won't be surprised if you guys say you have forgotten the story, so I'm just reminding you that this chapter will continue from where Taehyung found out that Y/n was missing.

"She isn't here. She never came."

Jaedan's words pierced into Taehyung's ears, and his mind instantly went blank, breath stilled, and his entire body went rigid. He stared at Jaedan, unblinking.

A beat of silence swallowed him before his breath left him in a slow, sharp exhale, then he let out a snort.

"Are you kidding me?" His eyes darkened.

Jaedan shook his head, and Taehyung's jaw clenched. His nostrils flared as his eyes flamed up with anger.

"Where is she? Did she tell you to lie to me? Is she hiding from me?" His voice was low and dangerous as he took a step down the stairs, making Jaedan more confused and even anxious.

Taehyung heart was pounding louder with each second. It could be possible that she was purposely ignoring him because of everything. He thought so, but that fleeting possibility faded when he heard Jaedan's next words.

"I'm not lying, hyung. Noona is really not here,"

"What the fuck do you mean she isn't here?!" Taehyung growled, his palm slamming hard against the banister.

Jaedan flinched at the sudden outburst but Taehyung didn't care. He looked angry outside, but from the inside, his chest burned, lungs straining to keep up with the amount of panic surging inside him.

"I left her here this morning, I fucking saw her walk into the house! What the hell are you saying?" he barked, his eyes were dark, frantic.

Jaedan's lips parted, hearing his words, confusion flashing across his face before he furiously shook his head.

"No. I've been home since noon. She wasn't here. In fact, no one was.."

"What?" Taehyung's brows furrowed. Jaedan nodded quickly

"Appa has gone for the festival and charity event in our hometown two days ago. He won't be back for a week.
I came home at noon, and there's been no one here except me."

Taehyung felt a violent twisting in the pit of his stomach. Adrenaline rushed through his veins.
He saw her. He fucking saw her walk inside. He wasn't hallucinating. He wasn't insane.

But why would Jaedan lie?

His breath turned ragged, hands twitching as something dark coiled inside his gut. A cold shiver prickled down his spine, a dark sense of dread crawled in from the edges of his mind.

"Wait- " Jaedan's sudden sharp inhale snapped him back.

Taehyung's gaze shot up, locking onto Jaedan's expression as it twisted in sudden realization.

"The door was already unlocked when I came back," Jaedan blurted, his mouth falling agape.

"I-I thought I left it open in a hurry this morning but..." He looked up, eyes wide, and his next words sent another chilling shiver down Taehyung's spine.
