RUSSIA
They gathered around the center table and Russia couldn't pay attention to a thing that was coming out of China's mouth. He was discussing trying to synthesize information with those on Neo and their group, and something about the use of a portal, which everyone listened to with apt engagement. The idea was to delve deeper into the nature of the mysterious portals that seemed to be a recurring constant in their mismatched history, and perhaps, complete the story with that and the help of any information Romania had gathered. The only difficult part was getting in touch in the first place... Neo's websites were prevented from being used in the real world, and vice versa. The phantom tug of a finger laced in his hair pulled him away from the verbal exchanges. The careful graze of a hand slipped into his, toying senselessly with his sanity, and he dutifully sacrificed all of his willpower to prevent a blush from blooming across his face. He looked sheepishly at China, who was deep in explanation, not seeming to care — and gratefully so — that he wasn't listening.
He forced himself to listen. America didn't look like he was having any issue with it, for what it was worth. Now it was time to strip himself naked and drown himself in the Nile. How would he get to the Nile? Maybe flights to Egypt were cheaper from Moscow. But he knew barely anything about Egypt. No, he would run away, and forget about UN, and all of his atrocities, and that stupid blonde guy, and live with the pyramids.
"Everyone got that?" China's voice was clearer when he said his name. "Russia! What are you thinking about this time?"
"Egypt," Russia said truthfully. North looked astonished, either at the fact that he was thinking about Egypt or that he had the brain capacity to be producing thoughts about Egypt at the time.
"Not everyone should go," South piped in, ignoring the conversation entirely, and Russia had no clue what he was talking about, only pretended to nod along (not a very effective act, really). "Don't you think it'll be weird if thirteen people pile into the corporation at the same time, people who look oddly reminiscent of the Representatives they probably remember they used to provide for?"
Russia gaped. "What?"
China glared daggers. He hung his head apologetically.
"There's a corporation in Moscow called, you guessed it, although you probably didn't: PortalPath. I and some others were searching it up, never knew there was, but it does help now that we're on that technological path rather than historical. I'm thinking that maybe we can observe the usage or methods of the portals to figure out how it got closed off." He averted his eyes. "Do you want to go, then, South?"
"I can," South nodded. "Can someone else come with me?"
"North should," China pointed out. "He was the one who spotted it first." The two siblings, rather content in their renewed relationship now, only strengthened by their convenience store escapedés in Tokyo, had no qualms, and nodded, exchanging glances.
"One more person," North pleaded, and Germany scanned the remainder of the group with scrutinization.
"Reich," he said boldly a moment after, not a lilt of hesitation.
"What." The aforementioned looked like he was about to hurl his breakfast. "He said some other word beginning with R, right?" he asked, whipping his head around.
"You were literally the catalyst. You dropped the note that was given to all of us with codes for the library bunkers. You dragged JE and Italy to the real world first," America pointed out, to which Germany gave a nod of agreement. "Plus, give China a break."
