Day Nine (Part 4)

**7:50pm**

Ashton and Nathalie were walking to the woods in the middle of a silent village. The villagers were probably already inside their houses taking a break after working all day different than Ashton and Nathalie who were now outside the house and heading to the woods.

"Shouldn't we have to bring flashlight?" Nathalie asked making Ashton slapped his forehead realizing that she was right.

"Oh wait I see Nick," she added suddenly when she saw a boy standing behind one of the trees in the woods telling them to come to him as soon as possible. Both of them ran to him and there they saw him bringing a gun with him which was surprising.

Ashton looked at him with his rose eyebrows and Nick just grinned, "this is mine, my dad gave it to me. In case I need it," Nick explained. Ashton and Nathalie nodded before finally Nick told them to follow him.

They weren't that unlucky at all because Nick brought a flashlight with him. The three of them held their guns tightly and nothing can stop the feeling that something was staring at them. There was so silent they even could hear their own pumping heartbeats.

"Nick, can I ask you something?" Ashton whispered to the boy who's leading the way. Nathalie looked at him then to Nick. She could barely see them actually but she still could hear them. She looked around and so did Nick and Ashton keeping an eye on everything that's moving.

"Yeah," Nick replied.

"Why do we need to bring our guns?" Ashton asked.

"You just need to," Nick said.

"Why?"

Nathalie turned her head to Ashton after he asked that again. It wasn't just Ashton who's curious about it, she was curious also. They believed Nick had an explanation for that but he didn't want to tell them but they also had something in mind that's bothering them since the time Nick said that they might need to bring guns.

And just as they feared, they heard something that's not strange for them anymore. Movements happened around them and whatever made the movements, it wasn't alone.

Nick who's standing in front of Ashton and Nathalie, turned around to face them. "We need to hurry," he told them before turning around again and started running. Ashton and Nathalie followed him from behind.

"Nick, wait for us!" Ashton whisper-shouted when they almost lose him because he ran so fast. He turned his head to Nathalie who's already panting and then he took her hand and held it while they were running.

"Ow!" Ashton and Nick shouted at the same time when Ashton bumped into him hard from the back and now they were on the ground.

"Are you guys okay?" Nathalie asked and she felt sorry for Nick because his little body was right under Ashton's huge body.

"Oh shit, get up get up!" Nathalie said making Ashton and Nick got up and as soon as they were already on their feet, Nathalie pulled them behind a huge tree and told them to stay silent.

"I saw it too," Nick whispered to Nathalie and she knew exactly what he meant. Ashton looked at Nathalie questioningly.

"It's here," she whispered. Ashton furrowed his eyebrows before peeking 'it' from behind the tree and there he saw it. A zombie without a left hand and its head was tilted to the right. Unfortunately, it was looking at Ashton when he was peeking it from behind the tree.

"It knows we're here and--" a sound of a gunshot shocked Ashton and Nathalie. They turned their heads to Nick and they saw him still had his gun aimed to the zombie. He walked out from their hiding place and walked to the zombie. Ashton and Nathalie followed him and found that he killed it.
