Nathalie woke up the next morning when she felt somebody tapping her forehead. She opened her eyes and saw two round black eyes right in front of her eyes. "Good morning, Leslie," Nathalie giggled. Leslie grinned showing her teeth then she sat up. Nathalie stretched her arms and she looked to her side and found Ashton still sleeping and his hair was on his eyes.
"I'm thirsty," Leslie pouted. Nathalie yawned then she nodded. Nathalie got up from the bed then she held Leslie's body up. She walked out the room to the kitchen and she put down Leslie on the counter while she poured water to a clean glass then gave it to her.
"Do you like milk?" Nathalie asked while Leslie was still drinking her water. Leslie then nodded at her.
"I drink it everyday. Mommy say it's healthy," Leslie said with her cute little girl's voice.
"I'm sorry we don't have milk here," Nathalie apologized to her. Leslie smiled and nodded, "it's okay," she said then giggled. When she finished drinking the water, Nathalie put the glass on the counter. She then held Leslie up again and she was actually about to go to the bedroom but she heard laughter on the backyard. Nathalie then walked to the backyard and found Michael and Joy were laughing at something.
"Hey, you guys," Nathalie greeted.
"Heeeeyyy!! How's your sleep?" asked Joy, she looked so happy.
"Better than a few days ago. I forgot it's your shift right now," Nathalie sat on an empty chair beside Joy. Michael then shrugged.
"Nothing passed here last night. Luke and Sylvia are on the porch," he said. Nathalie then nodded.
"Oh, guys, this is Leslie, she's five," Nathalie introduced Leslie to Joy and Michael.
"Hi there, Leslie! I'm Joy and this is Michael," Joy said with a huge smile on her face. Leslie looked at her then to Michael that was smiling sweetly at her and then she smiled shyly.
"Wait, five? How come she's alone in the woods while she's just....five?" Michael interrupted.
"She said she was playing with Jimmy and went too far from her camp. She was attacked by the zombies and she couldn't find her camp and the zombies were chasing her. Jimmy didn't survive I think," Nathalie told the story Leslie told her to Michael. Michael remembered about Leslie saying she's being chased yesterday.
"And she said they found her family when Ash asked why she was crying when he piggybacked her," Nathalie continued.
Michael then looked at her. He heard her crying yesterday when they're walking to the cabin and he heard Ashton asked her why but she didn't answer. That was after the moment when they saw a zombie ate a deer and after the screaming, growling, and gunshots sounds. Could that be her family that's being attacked?
Michael looked at the blonde haired little girl that's now on Joy's lap because she wanted to hold her. She's so much like all of them. Lost everyone at once. She's so young to be left alone. He's glad she found them at the river yesterday. If she didn't, what will happen to her? Being eaten alive? Even Michael can't imagine that situation.
"You're safe here now, little girl," Michael said.
Morning came and one by one everybody started waking up and they all went to the livingroom. Ashton tried to turn the tv on since they didn't watch anything yesterday. He clicked the power on and when the tv was finally turned on, he immediately searched for an active channel which he only could find at least five channels and all of them were talking about the situation they're facing right now. Talking about the survivors, the damages that happened in some places, the zombies ofc, they're getting bigger and will get a lot more big from now.
