I had security around me as we moved through the airport, fans crowding around security. I let out a sigh, trying to hear Taylor though my phone. "-shopping before then?"
"Um, if you said swimsuit shopping before our trip, then yeah! Sounds fun! I'm being mobbed right now, so can I call you back when I can hear you?" I ask.
"Of course!" I hang up, putting my phone in my hoodie pocket. We finally got to the exit, the suburban in view. I was helped in, the door closed behind me. The driver drove me to the hotel, telling me to have a good day.
I wandered inside, not seeing anyone. I checked in, taking my keycard before going up to the room to call Taylor back. It went to voicemail, so I threw my phone on the bed, letting out a yawn.
I didn't mind long car rides, but long flights were worse because you're surrounded by people you don't know. It just exhausts you, so much.
My phone buzzes, Luke had sent me a text. It was an audio file, and I clicked play, listening to what sounded like a new song. A message appears under, and he told me it was called Broken Home and it was going to be on the new album. I listen in silence, biting my lip.
After the song, I text him asking if I could call him. He responds with a yes and I call him immediately.
"Who is this song about?" "Anyone who is going through this... Ashton and I wrote it a few months ago." "It's beautiful. I really like it." "Thanks. I think it's one of the songs on the album that has the deepest meaning..." "I can't wait to hear the rest of the album, it sounds fantastic." I smile softly, laying my head on the back of the chair I had taken a seat in.
"I think everyone is going to like it, it's a little different sound, but it's still pretty good if you ask me." I laugh, shaking my head. "Luke, you have to think its good, it's your album." "Not all artists think their albums good." He defends. "True. But it's typically a given for the artist to like their album. You still haven't let me listen to The Girl Who Cried Wolf." "You'll have to wait!" "Luke! You told me two months ago I could hear it!!"
"Now you'll have to wait two more!" "I hate you." "No you don't." "Right now I do." "Shhhhh." "Don't shhhh me." "shhh." "Lucas." "My names Luke." "Lucifer." "Dylan Elizabeth." "You do not get to use my middle name Luke Robert." "Dylan Elizabeth Ryan." "Luke Robert Hemmings." "What are we doing?" "I don't even know." I begin laughing, wondering if we were even human.
"We are so weird." Luke admits. "But why else would we be together if we weren't weird?" "True." "Want to know something?" "What?" "I want to spend some time off in New York. Like after our tours and just kinda hang out and like not worry about anything." "Dylan, you know we can't do that..."
"Why not? This is our life! Why can't we just take some time off? One Direction is? Why can't we take a few months off and breathe after tours? Why do we have to go straight into getting ready to release a new album and announce another tour?"
"Hey, shh, you're getting worked up, calm down." "Why can't we just spend a few weeks in New York? Is that so hard to ask? I didn't even get time to mourn my dad, this life is stupid and ridiculous."
I heard Luke chuckle. "Dylan, I know you love meeting fans and performing on the stage, you're just tired, aren't you?" "And my period started and I don't have you to cuddle with. A pillow is shit compared to you." He laughed, making me smile.
I didn't hear anything for the longest time, and I checked to see if he was still there. "Hello?" I ask. "Sorry, they were giving me some instructions for the show, speaking of, I need to get going, I love you Dylan." "Love you too, Luke, have fun!"
We hang up and I slump in the chair, curling in a ball. I hated performing when I was on my period. I wanted to wear my new white jeans too, that's obviously not going to happen.
