Luke's POV
My phone wouldn't stop ringing and I groaned, sitting up. I felt around my side table, wondering why Dylan hasn't said anything along the lines of shut the fucking phone off or something. I pressed it to my ear after hitting answer, Blake's voice coming through.
"Give the phone to Dylan, she's not answering and this is an emergency." I nod, forgetting he can't see me and sit up, not seeing Dylan beside me. "I don't know where she is." I frown, looking around. "Find her! I literally do not have all day Luke." He says urgently.
I get out of bed, my feet hitting the floor. I walk through the house, still not finding Dylan. I looked in the backyard, seeing her sitting on my old swing set swing. I walked outside, seeing her wipe away tears. "Dyl?" I ask, crouching down in front of me. She showed me her phone and I was expecting to see hate, not New York news. I read the title, freezing. "I think she knows, Blake." I mumble into the phone. "Can you try and get her back here as soon as possible? He's still alive, but they don't think much longer." "Yeah, I can try." I mutter, my throat dry.
I hang up, looking back at Dylan. "Come here." I say quietly, opening my arms. She comes into them, burrowing her head into my neck. "A drunk driver. Again." She mumbles, tightening her grip on me. I rest my chin on the top of her head, hugging her tightly. "Let's go back to New York." I say. She shakes her head, pulling away. "It's Christmas, spend it with your family. Please." "Dylan." I mumble. She shakes her head.
"I don't even know if I want to go back. It's what, a 20 plus hour flight, plus the time the plane actually takes and the time it's going to take me to get to the airport and then to the hospital, he'll be dead before I can get there." She says, laying her head on my shoulder. I make her look at me. "Dylan, you need to be with your family at a time like this, and there's a small chance that you will get to say goodbye, please go." I urge. "Please." She finally nods, standing up.
"I'll help you pack." I offer. "Just buy me a plane ticket, I'll pack myself and call my brothers to see where they are." I nod, walking inside. I grab my laptop, buying the next ticket to New York, a layover in Los Angeles.
"Your plane leaves in an hour, are you ready?" I ask. She nods, putting her phone in her pocket. "Call me when you get there, alright?" I ask. She nods again, kissing my cheek. "Thanks Luke." She says, grabbing her suitcase and going out to the car. I grab my keys, driving her to the airport and then back home, finding my mum in the kitchen. "Where were you off to this early in the morning?" She asks. "Taking Dylan to the airport. Her dad got hit by a drunk driver, they don't think he's going to make it much longer, I'm just hoping Dylan will get to say goodbye." I say softly. "So do I, that girls gone through so much." My mum says. I nod.
"First her brother gets hit by a drunk driver, then her mum begins drinking heavily, then her dad gets hit, I'm surprised she can go into a bar or car." "It takes a lot, but it's everyday things she has to do, well the bar isn't but you get what I mean. She can't live her life in fear, she needs to just live and have fun." I nod, watching her cook. "Get me the butter, would you?" I get up and go to the fridge, handing it to her.

Dylan's POV
I sat in the taxi, staring at my phone. I had no calls or texts on dad yet so I was nervous. When he pulled up to the hospital, I paid and ran in, glad I had left my things in my brothers apartment. I signed in as a visitor and ran to his room, Blake pacing, Taylor sitting in a chair asleep, Lukas on the phone, Austin next to dads bed. "Dylan." Blake breathes when he sees me, engulfing me in a hug. "How is he?" I ask, looking down at him.
No one answers so I take that as really bad. A nurse comes in, checking everything. "He hasn't woken up and it's been 24 hours, his brain is beginning to shut down." She says, marking things on her iPad. I nod, sitting in a chair next to Austin. He wraps his arm around me, kissing the side of my head. "Where were you guys?" "Skiing in Colorado." Austin says. "New York with Taylor." Blake says, glancing over at her. She was still asleep, curled up in a chair. "In the car with dad." Lukas mutters, putting the phone down. That's when I saw his left arm was in a cast and the cuts on the left side of his face.
