Chapter 22

"There must be a turn somewhere leading to an exit! Just like in all the movies I've seen!!" shrieked an excited Vicki.

So yes, everyone did end up tagging along behind me and Aaron finally. I expected everyone to be scared like us, but it ended up being the complete opposite.

Vicki was busy imagining movie scenes in underground tunnels and describing them simultaneously while the rest of the lot would happily agree. I still knew that everyone was scared inside but weren't trying to show it. I started feeling like a chicken in front of Vicki and I was determined to not make a fool of myself because I was scared. I mean these people were depending on me and Aaron and that was a huge responsibility that I did not want to blow up.

What a stupid little idiot I am for being scared, I thought to myself.

It's all right Alexis, we all are scared. You aren't the only one scared. I heard an amused voice from my head. Blast it! I completely forgot that they could hear me. I started blushing with embarrassment in response to what Aaron said.

Sweethearts, we do not want the both of you to put the whole weight on your shoulders all right? It's not just the two of you that are here. All of us are together now and we will all put our best efforts to find a way out. If you feel that it's only on you, then we will never be able to make decisions and move forward. Katherine told us. Well she was right, I was overthinking this whole thing and made it look like it was my fault entirely.

We promise to answer your questions as soon as we find a way out of this tunnel and get somewhere far away from Elizabeth children. So will you kids ease a bit? Melissa asked us.

Right after Melissa said that, I felt a familiar hand in my hand again. The tunnel we were walking through became broader as we walked so now we were able to walk side by side. I looked up to see Aaron's eyes twinkling and smiling at me in the dim light. That did it! I instantly felt happy that I found the right people to be beside. I knew just then that Aaron might mean a whole lot more to me than ever before.

"Look! There's light coming from there!" shouted Anna. I was too engrossed in thinking about Aaron that I forgot where I was for a moment. I turned to look at where Anna was pointing at, and sure enough, there was some light coming from a place what seemed to look like the end of the tunnel.

I silently cursed at myself for being in lost thoughts about Aaron for the second time in just an hour. I had to help everyone out, not be in love right now!

"All right, why don't we head towards the light and see where it takes us then?" I said.

We all inched closer and closer towards the light, the curiosity killing all of us.

When we neared the light, well me and Aaron stepped towards it first as we were in front of everyone, and I saw an opening that looked like the exit to the tunnel.

What was lying beyond it? Where did we end up? Where wold we go? So many questions were swarming in my brain and the fear was creeping up inside of me.

"Alexis! Look!" whispered Aaron urgently to me.

I saw what he was pointing at and I saw something that I didn't think would turn out to be like this.

Kids? What do you see? asked Melissa.

What did I see?

In front of us, was a huge ocean and on the banks of it, was a gigantic cruise harboured. Was Elizabeth as rich as this to have a cruise as her own? Don't get me wrong here, I have heard of expensive cars and even private jets, but a private cruise? Now this was definitely a surprise. Why would she even need one and where were we?

"Okay, this has just gone beyond my definition of weird. We see a huge cruise like thing harbored in some water body guys." Aaron told everyone as he turned around to face them.

Just then, Steve, Gary, Katherine, and Melissa shouted, "Superfin!" and they came running towards us pushing us behind them.
It was as if they were all suddenly shocked and astonished with what we just told them.
Along with me, Aaron, Vicki, Amanda, and Anna were just staring at them with a confused look on our face. We seriously felt left out.

I mean look at the facts. First, I suddenly get to see my birth mother after all these years and I don't even have time to react. Next, I'm not allowed to know the story of what was going on which only those four knew who were shouting like little toddlers as if they discovered gold by looking at a cruise called 'Superfin'?

Melissa, my mother, seemed to remember that we were existing suddenly and turned around.
Boy, it seemed like this was a never ending story. There just seemed to be so much of stuff that we had to catch up on that this was never going to end. I was dying inside to know what was going on but we couldn't waste any time. So instead I just asked,
"Forget the details, we don't have time right now, does anyone know how to operate that thing?"
I asked them.

"Yes!" Gary and Steve said in unison, without even looking at us. Did I just see them as if they were excited or something?

Jeez what was going on? My head was finally catching up with me and I could imagine my poor little brain blasting questions at me.

Aaron seemed to catch up with what I was on to and said,
"Great! Let's move towards the boat and try to overthrow anyone on board. We need to get out of here as soon as possible."

As if on queue, Katherine said "We'll go and check if anyone is in sight. All of you stay here, if anyone of us whistle twice, it means the coast is clear and everyone has to come quickly to the boat okay?"

Wait, why would they do that? Was it even safe?

"No, Me and Alexis will go. It might not be safe for the both of you." Aaron spoke  as if he read my thoughts.

Oh darn, I forgot, he could actually hear my thoughts.

Melissa and Katherine started smirking as soon as Aaron said that.

"Children, we are trained in the art of fighting any evil. Please leave any type of dangerous stuff to us. We are well aware of how to deal with this. Do not be afraid!" Melissa responded in a way that she seemed to find amusing.

Well,
That seemed to answer my question.
We had moms that could fight! How cool was that?
"Are you guys like ninja's or spies in disguise?" Screamed Vicki. Ah, there goes that girl's imagination.

"No sweetheart, now everyone stay back while me and Melissa go and search Superfin so we can get out of here as soon as possible. Keep your ears open for our whistles! We won't take long!" Katherine told us.

Kids, please trust us on this. We will answer your all your questions once we get out. Katherine added by talking to us in our heads.

With that, they disappeared to the harbor.
