The Dream

Chapter 12

"Steve.."
Whispered Amanda Moyer still standing there like a stone. What was I supposed to do? I think I just messed this up with the only household I've ever been to so far in the neighbourhood.

"Mom? What's wrong? Why are you standing there like that? Is everything okay? Do you know these people? It's fine if you don't wanna talk about it!" Tried Aaron. He was equally horrified looking at their expression.

She then seemed to come back to the present and said to us
"Alexis dear..how do you know them? We haven't heard from them from ages and the last we heard was that they died in an accident like 10 years ago! So why do you suddenly ask? Anna Moyer was my cousin sister and was very near to me."

This stopped my heart for a maybe longer than a few seconds and I don't remember when I started breathing again.
Oh boy. Now I really needed to go home. Was I dreaming again? How much of information is going to be thrown at me in a single night?
Please tell me this isn't the beginning!
"Mrs. Moyer..I-I'm sorry but I don't understand." I stuttered. "I've been adopted by them. Are you sure we are talking about the right Anna and Gary Moyer?" I stupidly asked. I mean duh. How many couples out there might be named Anna and Gary Moyer?

"Yes of course Alexis. I'm pretty sure. I mean hang on. I have a picture somewhere lying around I guess. Give me a few minutes!"
With that she ran and started looking around for pictures.

I quietly whispered to Aaron just as something hit me.
"Aaron I really need to talk to you without your parents involved later. I have an idea."

"Sure ..but what is all this? We hardly know each other's personal lives and yet here we are in the middle of this mess?"
Those are just my thoughts Aaron. Just my thoughts. Seriously..what was I getting myself into?
Mrs. Moyer came running back with pictures in her hand and shoved them to me. I was literally shaking and I didn't know if I could do this..
But anyway..I took one look at the pictures and shrieked,
"It's them! They are not dead! They've been taking care of me until two years ago. I have absolutely no idea where they are now. I lost touch with them after moving in with my aunt Elizabeth. Something must be wrong here! Right? I mean I know for a fact I wasn't hallucinating and there's something you should know....
Aaron and I...well we get dreams with each other's voice in them. I mean it might sound ridiculous to you but it's true! So will someone please tell me what's going on here?"
I don't think I was going to leave this household till I got some pretty wonderful answers to satisfy me till I learnt the truth.

"Elizabeth? Elizabeth who is supposed to be your mom's sister right? Okay hold it for one minute there...
Aaron...Amanda..There's something I'm going to have to tell you guys which I thought I would never have to say! I'm sorry for keeping this a secret but I got a letter from some anonymous person asking me to take in a girl..I'm guess her name was some Willows and a boy,who was Aaron Cross here from the Hope Orphanage when you guys were five years old. I'm sorry Aaron but I tossed the letter aside. A few years later I got curious and started researching on this and came across a person named Elizabeth. I never met her but it was all virtual interaction. She threatened me and made me go and take you guys into the household without changing your names. But by the time I got to the orphanage..Alexis was no where to be found and so I took in Aaron.
"I told Elizabeth of this and I guess that's when she started her own search for you Alexis. She said great danger would come to us if either me or Elizabeth didn't find Alexis. I decided that this was utter nonsense but I liked Aaron right away! So I decided to stay away from this Elizabeth person and haven't heard about her ever since. I've been keeping my family together."
Tears sprung out of Amanda's eyes. I was sure Steve was going to have it from her later.
"Alright..but that doesn't answer the biggest question here..why do you guys think Gary and Anna Moyer died in an accident? I've been brought up by them and I recognize them from these pictures. Are you guys sure? Have u seen the accident scene?"
I asked seriously. This was really going no where and I was beyond exhausted. My brain could not help me think.
Then Amanda slowly spoke..
"No..actually we haven't even seen anything as proof. We only heard it from my relatives and I was too devastated to go and find out for myself. I grieved for days but you are right..this doesn't answer the question. Something is definitely going on here!"
Aaron silently stood up and went to his room. I decided to follow him.
A new pang of questions were arising in my head. But most importantly,
Who do I trust? Do I trust the Moyer's here?
After watching Aaron go to his room. I told him I'd text him later and decided to run back home to my aunt. I needed a long sleep. Tomorrow was a new day. I could find out more tomorrow.
