Spencer
I bolt down the hallway to the basement door holding my gun out in front of me. As I go down into the darkness I hear the rest of the team following me to investigate. I trail my hands along the wall trying to find a light switch.
"Mia!" I call. She doesn't answer. My heart rate is tripling its speed. I find the switch and the room floods with light as I rush down the stairs.
"Mia!" I call again.
"Over h-here." She answers in a soft voice. I spot her leaned up against a wall holding her bleeding head. I holster my gun, running over to hug her.
"Oh my god. Are you ok? What happened? Where is Adam?"
"I'm ok." She is lying. "I shot Adam in the stomach but he wasn't too happy so he smashed his gun into the side of my head. He ran that way." She says pointing to the right of her. "He won't get to far with a bleeding stomach." She continues.
"Where is he?" Hotch says finally making it down the stairs. Mia moans then points to her right again.
"I'm going to call an ambulance." I say as the team passes me, following Hotch.
"I don't need an ambulance Spence."
I smile at the sound of the old nickname she gave me in high school.
"Yes you do."
I tell Mia to go up the stairs as I call an ambulance.

Mia
My head hurts like hell.
Each time I go up a step a jolt of pain shoots from my head. I didn't realize I was moaning the whole way up the stairs and down the hallway until Spencer asked me if I was ok for the second time. I decide to tell him the truth this time even though he already knows that my head is in pain.
"No. My head hurts like hell." I say repeating what I was thinking.
"Im sorry. I should have followed you."
I look into Spencer's eyes despite the protest from the pain.
"It wasn't your fault. If you would have come with me both of us might have had our heads smashed."
Spencer winces when I say smashed.
"Maybe, but the odds of both of us having our heads smashed by one person is very low."
We finally get outside and I have to squint because the sunlight hurts my eyes and head.
"I'll be right back ok. Don't move." Spencer says before retreating into the house. I don't question him. Instead I sit on the front steps and hold my head.
I hope they catch Adam and find the two boys.
I hear footsteps behind me and feel something cold placed on my head. I look up to see Spencer sitting down next to me holding an ice pack to my head.
He is so sweet. I think about what I would give to kiss him right here right now. Wait what? What did I? What? Did I just think that?
Before I can focus too much on what I just thought, I focus on the sounds of the ambulance sirens that are coming closer. I feel Spencer stand up beside me. As the ambulance parks in the driveway Spencer does that last thing I ever expected him to do. He picks me up bridal style and carries me to the ambulance.
It feels amazing to be held in his arms.
As the lights get closer and brighter I start to feel light headed. The last thing I hear before becoming a victim of the darkness is Spencer calling my name.
