Chapter 27: Is Mia There?!

Five more minutes. Five more minutes. Five more min...........
"Spencer please stop tapping your finger on the dashboard. It's distracting."
I clasp my hands together and sigh.
"I'm sorry Emily. I'm really nervous. What if something terrible happened to her?"
"I'm sure she is fine. She is safest out of all of us at the station."
I know she doesn't believe that. I told Emily about the letter and Daniel. She is probably thinking the same thing I am. I have been dying to ask a question since Emily and I got in the car. I want to ask but I'm scared what her reply is going to be.
Emily and I drove in silence for two more minutes. I start to tap my right foot.
Three more minutes. Three more minutes. Three more........ I can't take it anymore I need to ask!
"Do you.......do you think he took h-her?" My voice cracks when I finish my question. Emily turns her face towards me.
"I'm sure she is fine." Emily repeats. The way she says it sounds like she is trying to convince herself just as much as she is trying to convince me. I look out the front window and see the station. Emily spots the station too so she speeds up.
"Did you call Hotch?" Emily asks.
I hit myself in the face. "No I didn't even think about. I thought maybe all the lines would be jammed. I should have checked. I'm so stupid. I just got so wrapped up in my own thoughts." The worry boiling inside me starts to cool as I pull out my phone and dial Hotch's number.
If something happened to Mia, Hotch would call. Right?
*Ring, Ring, Ring*
"Hello?"
"HOTCH! By any chance have you seen Mia recently?!"
"She is supposed to be looking through the files of suspects so I thought she would be fine alone. I haven't seen her since we talked about the letter. Why?"
"I was just on the phone with her. The line went dead. I think someone jammed her phone line. She found Daniel in the files and flipped out. Are you sure she is still in the room? Can you check? Please. I would really appreciate if you check. Please..."
"Spencer! Start from the beginning. I'm heading to the room now. Who is Daniel?"
"I'll tell you in person. Emily and I are two minutes away. Is Mia in the room?"
I hear the background noise of a door opening. "Is Mia there?" I ask again.
I hear Hotch yell at someone to call a paramedic. There is a long pause.
"HOTCH IS MIA IN THERE." Tears start to stream down my face.
"No...........but Lilith is."
