I nestled on the passenger seat beside Randheer with a mischievously adorable idea dancing in my pretty little brain. My gaze lingered softly on Randheer who had his entire focus on the road, lost in his own thought. My eyes glittered as I turned Ranveer towards me in a way to break the stifling silence.

"Shona, do you also feel like Papa is in angry mode today?" I asked in a babyish tone brushing Ranveer's chubby cheek and my baby giggled with a gentle nod.

Ahh, my chotu baby! Leaning I pressed a tender kiss to his cheek.

"Papa, your chotu baby is calling you!" I chirped poking Randheer's bicep playfully but he didn't respond with words, just glanced at me with those dark brown eyes that were holding a whole whirlpool together. I sighed softly settling back quietly.

It wasn't a done-with-you look. It was a silent admission of being tired, of being hurt and I realised he wasn't angry; he was in pain. Trying hard to keep his emotions chained.

Randheer gently took my hand and placed it on the gear lever, his hand resting over mine as he swiftly changed gears. His palms were colder than usual sending a fresh wave of worry washing over me.

Randheer strode towards the terrace with long strides without exchanging a work while I stood behind holding Ranveer who had now started crying for milk.

My baby needed me but so did my husband.

How does a woman choose between the two roles that define her, mother or wife?

The mother in me wanted to feed my chotu baby first but the wife in me couldn't bear to leave my Dheer alone, not in this state.

"Parthvi!" I turned to find Maa, Papa, and Rashmi approaching and I exhaled in relief.

"Maa, can you please feed Ranveer and look after him? Randheer needs me..." My voice broke midway. "I will take care of my baby but why are you panicking?" Maa chuckled softly.

"Randheer didn't say a single word all the way home and just walked up to the terrace. I was going after him but Ranveer started crying and..." "And you couldn't decide whether to be a mother or a wife first?" Maa completed my thought with a knowing smile.

I nodded helplessly and she patted my cheek lovingly. "It gets tough sometimes but remember, before anything else, you two are husband and wife. That doesn't make your love for your child any less and we're all here, that's what families are for."

I nodded in understanding kissing Ranveer's forehead before handing him over to Maa and rushing upstairs.

"Dheer?" I called softly, sitting beside him. Randheer's gaze was lost in the tiny leaf he held between his fingers, rotating it mindlessly. "I won't go to Aanand Villas.....if you want, you can!" he muttered still avoiding my eyes.
