Alivia seperated us all out again, but this time we were split into four different groups, 2 were fighting, one was trying to stake Alivia, with fake stakes of course, and the other was sent off to run, because apparently the ability to run was a good one to have. Who knew? I was in the group of runners along with Immanuel and Connor. Just the two people that I wanted to be around for an hour run, hint the sarcasm.
Connor gave Octavia a quick kiss on the cheek than ran over to stand by me. Immanuel strolled over hands in his joggers. I didnt know nor exactly care how clothes miraculously showed up here for us, probably thanks to my mom and dads, come to think of it.
I pulled out an MP3 player that was old as hell, but one that Octavia had graciously gave me, knowing full damn well that Connor would try to talk my ear off while we ran. "We ready?" Immanuel asked briskly. Someone woke up on the wrong side of his pallet. I pulled out my headphones and went to turn on the MP3, a flashing low battery sign blinked in my face. I groaned. So much for that idea. I put it back in the pocket of my own joggers and Immanuel pulled out his phone.
"I tracked it early this morning with Alivia, we're going to run down Repass and hook a left, and then follow the road straight to the highway, then just turn around and come back. It shouldnt take that long," he explained to us as he pulled up a map on his phone and showed us the route. Easy enough. Maybe if I went fast enough than I could loose them.
a few moments later we took off down the steep driveway. Immanuel first, and Connor behind me as i was stuck in the middle. We made it down to the bottom of the mile and half driveway in no time than we dispersed. Immanuel had headphones in that were connected to his phone and Connor had an iPod and here i was with a broken ass MP3. I sighed. Keep on keeping on I guess. So I kicked myself up a gear and with little pushing and effort on my part, passed Immanuel on the right side of the road. Now he could eat my dust.
Soon enough I got lost in the sound of nature around me. Octavia and Connor picked a good spot. They were in the middle of no where, on top of a mountain, by a lake, in a town that consisted of a highway, a bridge and a gas station. It was quiet and that was nice.
Soon though Immanuel caught up with me and we were running side by side. He snuck a glance over at me and I scowled. Sweat was starting to drip down his face, and his shirt was starting to cling to his back. I looked away. He was distracting me. I pushed myself to up my pace and I took off running at a full blown run. My legs burned at the sudden outburst of speed and it took a moment for my lungs to catch up with me. As soon as they did however I had to take a detour off the sid eof the road due to cars coming. So took off into the woods, looking behind me once, as Immanuel and Connor followed.
I stopped running abruptly though. I still had a pretty good distance between me and the others, i looked around. Something didnt feel right. "Eden!" Connor yelled. But I wasnt sure if it was in question or in fright, but I soon found out as I took a step back as i tried to survey my surroundings.
A sharp piercing pain hit my ankle, and a loud snap emitted and then I fell to the ground as I tried to move but i was tethered to the ground. I couldnt even remember to breathe let alone scream as I looked down at my ankle and saw it enclosed in a small bear trap.
"Eden!" both Connor and Immanuel screamed this time. I looked up, feeling all the blood rush from my face leaving me woozy, as they slid to a stop at me feet. 'Holy fuck, oh my God," Immanuel cried. "Shit, what do I do?" he asked. Connor stood up and looked around. "They dont trap bears down around here," he said. I finally found my voice...and the adrenaline was wearing off, and oh my God did my ankle hurt. "You're right, they just hunt Eden's," I snapped. "Its just a bear trap Eden," connor said. "Yes! That happens to be on my damn ankle...and AHHH!" I let out a scream as fire hot pain shot up from my ankle into my leg. I frantically clawed at the trap and screamed even more when I touched it with my hand.
"Silver,' Immanuel said. He was starting to panic. Hell I was starting to panic. "GET IT OFF!' I screamed as the pain traveled further up my leg. The more I moved the deeper the trap dug into my skin. "We cant touch it!" Connor cried. "We'll get burned to,' he said. I started to cry. Why was my life so complicated? "Julianne!" Immnauel cried out. 'She can she's human we just need her help to get the trap off, or even Alivia..." Connor cut him off. "Silver hurts the vampires too, no way would Alivia risk that, Julianne is far fetched, she hasnt said more than two words since we helped make her human," he said.
Immanuel stood up. 'Well what the hell, are we just going to let her sit there with posion racing through her, she may be half a wolf, but if half of you dies its only a matter of time before the other half does!' Immanuel exclaimed.
Connor looked hesitant. 'Come on lets go get Julianne we might actually have to force her, Ill need your help,' Connor said. Immanuel looked down at me worried. My vision blurred as if I was drunk. 'Dont worry, I wont go anywhere,' I said jokingly. He looked scared, actually scratch that he looked petrified. He leaned down and kissed me full on the mouth. "I'll be right back, I promise,' he said and then him and Connor quickly shifted forms and took off through the woods across the mountains.
____________________________________________________________________________I laid back on the forest floor, trying to push the pain out of my body. But to no avail I couldnt. Fire was spreading everywhere and Immanuel and Connor were taking to long, it was starting to hurt to breathe.
"Do you give up yet?" a male voice asked. I looked around but the world spun so fast all I saw were trees spinning and brown trees mixing with blue skies. I closed my eyes. "Is poor little Eden dying on us, you're making it to easy," the voice said chuckling. I opened my eyes again and jumped, startled by the clarity of the blue and green eyes staring back at me. The man from the rest stop. Micah.
'Poor baby," he said tsking. "you see, much as you thought, it helps to have a psychic on your side." he told me as he wiped the sweaty hair from my face and tucked it behind my ear. I turned away from his cold touch.
"you're okay," he cooed. 'Soon it will all be over," he stated and then I closed my eyes again. I didnt want his face to be the last thing I saw before i died.
____________________________________________________________________________"Eden wake up!" someone yelled at me. "Damnit Eden open your eyes, Julianne get the fucking trap off!" someone else cried. I tried to open my eyes but I couldnt. My entire body was on fire and it hurt to breathe. so I chose not to. I just told myself to stop and I did. "LUCAS!' someone yelled. Was that Immanuel? "once Julianne gets that trap off her, make her shift, get angry! I kissed your girl! I KISSED HER! AND I MADE HER DREAM OF ME. I TOUCHED HER IN WAYS YOU ONLY WISHED!"
I felt a giant release on my ankle but my body had already started to shut down. I didnt want to breathe. But then I felt that all to familar burning sensation and I knew I was going to shift. In moments I was laying in a small wolf form and was breathing and healing, with a Lucas in like wolf form, laying down next to me.
I whimpered and pushed myself further into his fur covered body.
