••Special Chapter••
"Was there ever you time you missed mom?" Flash asked me. I raised an eyebrow. "Missed your mother? Of course! Each time she went on an archeological assignment. I remember I one time when I was probably 16 and she was 13 or 14."

"You sure you'll be okay?" Sonic asked Amy worriedly as she smiled and stared off at a tall mountain. She was wearing the biggest backpack she could afford to hike up all those mountains to get to her new archeological site. "I could run you up there, you know." He said to her. "What fun would that be?" Amy smiled. "I'll be fine. If I'm not back in a week then you can come look for me, deal?" Amy asked and offered her hand to shake.Sonic grinned and shook her hand. "Be safe..." He told her. "I'll get up there in three days tops, then spend two days studying. What could go wrong?" Amy beamed and set off hiking up the hill.
The first day was the worst for Sonic. On the news there had been warnings about rockslides. He wanted to run up to her to tell her to come down now. But Sticks said to wait six more days.
The second day, Sonic was still worried. He spent most of the day running around the mountains with binoculars trying to get a glimpse of Amy or rockslides.
The third day drove Sonic crazy because his binoculars couldn't see all the way to the top. Tails found him at the top of a tree trying to see Amy. That's when Tails decided that Sonic needed to chill out.
The forth day, Tails forced Sonic to relax inside. Of course, you can't force someone to relax. Sonic was even more stressed because he couldn't even see the mountain Amy was on.
On the fifth day Sonic managed to escape. It didn't take long for him to start spying on the mountain again. He was constantly on edge. Never once did he dream of leaving. Mostly because he hadn't dreamt...because he hadn't slept.
The sixth day was a little better. Sonic tried to clean up his act because Amy was coming back tomorrow. He wanted to seem as if he had been "cool" the entire time.
Finally, on the seventh day...
"Where is she?" Sonic asked Tails, who was up in the air looking for her. "She's only half way back, Sonic." Tails told him.
"If it took her three days to get up there and one day to come down how come she didn't just make the trip shorter?" Sticks asked Tails.
"She must've took photos and breaks those three days." Tails told her.
Sonic growled with anticipation. "Amy...hurry up!" He begged.
Within two more hours Amy was back down. Sonic couldn't contain his happiness and he ran to her. He scooped her up in his arms and laughed.
"Amy! You're back! We all missed you so much!" Sonic said and hugged her tightly. Sticks hit him in the back and he dropped Amy. "Yeah, we all missed you!" Sticks smiled and gave her a friendly hug. Amy smiled as Knuckles and Tails also gave her hugs.
"How was the trip?" Tails asked her. "Great! I got tons of stuff for you all!" Amy gave them all a rock with a small symbol on it. Tails smiled, not knowing what the symbol meant. "Thanks, Amy!"
"What's it mean?" Knuckles asked her. "It means family." Amy smiled and gave Sonic a quick glance.
Sonic blushed and clutched his rock.
"Family..."
