Chapter 5: The Weekend Where I Wanted to be Sherlock Holmes
As the week went by, it was already Saturday and my aunt invited Jake's family for dinner tonight.
I took the beautiful red-orange dress that my aunt set out for me and slipped it on. I didn't put any make-up on because it was never my thing. I went downstairs to help out with setting the table and adding last minute touches to the house. Emmett got through the week, but he's still trying to fit in with his new family. He's been really quiet around Owen too. They would be talking to each other when others aren't around, but mostly it's really quiet.
The doorbell rang and the twins opened the door to reveal Jake's mom and dad. They looked a bit older since the time I've seen them which was probably six years ago, when I was ten.
"Oh darling! You look beautiful! Look at how much you've grown!" Mrs. Robinson said, as her waterworks started flowing out at a rapid rate.
"It's nice to meet you too Mrs. Robinson." I said.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw Jake. His dimples were deep and he was grinning like a happy five-year-old. He was all dressed up in a tux with a red tie, matching me. Of course, my aunt would plan it out like that. I slightly groaned and followed the company into our dining room which was set up very neatly and clean of pranks from the pests. Emmett skipped into the room holding on to Owen's hand. He had a wide grin, which showed off his two new front teeth. My aunt dragged Mrs. Robinson into the kitchen to calm her down.
A cold hand grabbed my bare shoulder, making my karate skills kick in. I grabbed a hold of the hand and did a quick 180 degree spin to bend it behind his back.
"Oops! I'm r-re-really sorry! I didn't m-mean to do that." I stuttered, as I realized that I was accidently twisting Jake's arm. I let go and took a few steps back. I ran towards the kitchen and stepped in. I ended up startling Jake's mom, dad, and my aunt.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I was wondering, if you guys wanted to start dinner." I informed, as I squirmed in my spot. I guess I interrupted their private conversation.
"Sure honey! Let's go!" Mrs. Robinson said, enthusiastically.
We walked out of the kitchen and into the grand dining room. We pulled out our chairs and took a seat. I caught Jake staring at me and I blushed.
Maria: Don't even start me on you blushing like an idiot...
I was quite surprised with the twin's behavior. They weren't doing anything rude or-
"Pssshhh..." I looked up to see Owen holding a flattened out fart cushion and glaring at the twins. Nope. They haven't changed. Emmett, being the nine-year-old kid he was, started giggling. He sat politely, wearing a cute sized suit my aunt bought him, the night before.
After 10 minutes of talking to each other while eating some really tasty dishes my aunt cooked, my aunt clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.
"My close friend, Penny, is getting married in Los Angeles, California and I booked us all tickets. Your mom isn't going to be able to make it, so she's going to give them a special surprise after she comes back. Do remember Hannah, Penny's younger daughter? Well, you guys all played together when you were younger." My aunt said.
Everyone stared at me for an answer and I managed to say yes before I blacked out for the third time this week.

I woke up groggily, hearing voices around me.
"Ma'am, the patient will faint when she remembers things before she went into coma."
