Chapter 12: The Secrets That Come Back From the Past
Owen cleared his throat and started, "In a small town in the middle of Europe, your actual family-"
"Wait, so you're saying my mom that owns the huge line of businesses, isn't my mother?" I was taken back with the thought that my mom wasn't my real mother. I mean, then again, when has she actually really been supportive?
"-had the most pride and honor that many families would want and your family was sweet enough to share their happiness with neighboring countries." He completed his sentence with a glare that made me shut my mouth that was ready to explode with many questions. "With pride and dignity, they lead the Town of Prague in Czech Republic. I mean, every nice family ends up living with a problem or two. Their kingdom was in debt and they had to create a partnership with a wealthy group of people. Only later did they both realize that those people were crooks. While they had paid off their debt for about two years, the crooks were taking extra money for another three years. The problem was the king and queen couldn't escape the clutches of these thieves. They were too well-trained and constant threats were placed upon the people of Prague. Soon there was a period of no threats or harm; it was like the eye of a hurricane. Too calm to be good. Your parents, the king and queen, had you. With you around, security increased and the protectiveness of your parents increased. After seven years, your younger brother was born."
"What the heckles?! A flipping brother that I've never heard of or seen of?!" I screamed off in Owen's face.
Owen took a forwardly, brave stance and kept continuing with the story. "As I was saying, your younger brother was born. Unfortunately, he was kidnapped by the crooks. Ever since, your mother was in a set of despair and your father didn't know what to do. He demanded more protection for his kingdom and made many truces with nearby kingdoms. In dire and with great will, they sent you to their distant cousins."
"My mom- I mean my 'mom'..." I exclaimed as realization bloomed over me.
"Yea, well, that's when everyone else got involved. Your 'mom' took you under her wing and Jake just happened to click into your life. You see the rest of it right there. My mom came into play when we had to help with extra security. We kept feeling so sorry for the things you were going through; a different family, different environment, different life, etc. I wanted to be the brotherly model in your life, but another thing was when we went through evidence and your background, we found out that the long lost brother of yours is-"
The door slammed open and people dressed in black immediately filed in and the chill of their tense positions seemed to set Owen into protective mode. He pulled out his gun and something seemed to pop inside of him. He ran over to me, pushed me down and shot out bullet after bullet. It was all like in slow motion; he hand an arm under the arm shooting bullets and his face was wrinkled up with strong concentration. Pop!... pop Pop pop!... pop!. It scared me how fast everything was zooming past my face. I was sure I was going to die today. Thanks to Jake for being the one for a short period of time, thanks to my 'mom' for 'trying' to be the mom that took care of me when things go wrong, thanks to Hannah for being one of my childhood friends, and thank Cecilia for being my-
"Alya! Duck!" I heard Owen scream. That was all that took for me to drop to the floor and cover my head and make sure I didn't die. I saw a shard of glass on the floor nearby. I looked at the glass to see the reflection of Owen getting beat up by three different guys. Could he handle all those guys? I don't know, but I took the shard of glass and chucked it at one of the guys. It went into a guy and he dropped to the ground. Wow. That was a really weird feeling. I couldn't place a finger to it because I was too guilty for what happened. I just hurt a guy and I might have killed him too. Jeez, I could be sent to jail. Or worse like a lifetime prison sentence. I mean, -
